Too much oil I believe

An alternative could be to get a sump from a breaker.
Bearing in mind I have never taken a sump off an A2, so have no idea about tricky it will be to swap.
Quite a lot of work. That's why I re-tapped the thread. It's always a balance of cost/effort.
I poured 3 separate hot pints of flushing oil to make sure the sump was completely clear of swarf,
even after carefully clearing any metal particles as I cut the new thread.

I agree, the dipstick (orange in my 1.4 petrol) can be awkward.
I have to dip/wipe several times to get a consistent level reading.
The V-Coil tap is a taper tap. This is far more suitable, and easier to do accurately.
A lot of cheaper (Chinese made rubbish) kits only supply a bottom (plug) tap, which is very difficult
and unsuitable to do the repair properly.

There is always this kit.
Not sure if Nielsen is Chinese or not, but it's a lot cheaper option.
And that isn't a bottom tap.

That looks the business Pie-eyepiper.
I wonder if the gap is big enough for the length of the tap and any tools required
to get in to do the tapping??
