TT 1.8t 225bhp engine into my A2

Morning Bret,

This is really coming along now. Looks terrific, well done for persevering with the dashboard. You must be very proud and happy with the outcome so far, pure genius!

Kind regards,

Tom

A little update

Cut the A2 dashboard up to marry up to the TT dash .

After fitting the complete TT dashboard, decided that I wasn’t happy with where is was sitting. So removed the lot and refitted it an inch and half closer to windscreen . How it’s about the same place as the original dashboard.

It’s taken me another 3 weeks, but I think it is worth it .

Starting to think you're an evil genius dabbling in the deep, dark side of the audi gene pool with high voltages ⚡️ and a slight penchant for dubious splicing and questionable moral ethics... 🤣🤣. There's probably a law against this somewhere...

Haha that is hilarious

The dashboard is all fitted now in it new position about 40mm nearer the windscreen.

Looks a lot better and I am not hitting my hands when I use the wipers . Lol

Started on the wiring too.
The clocks, Aircon unit and the light switch are all just plug and play.

Removed the central locking switch wiring from the drivers door to the centre console switch for the TT unit .

Removed the sensors and fuel flap switchs wiring from the B pillar to the centre console switchs for the TT dash.

Have got a disc rear axle now complete.

Have stripped down and removed the standard 232mm solid discs, will be replacing with 252mm vented discs from the TT.

Why the axle is being stripped down I will be replacing the standard bushes with the black poly bush units.

Going to make brand new black lines too.

I am not a lover of overly modded A2's, but Jeez, this is in a league of its own and looks absolutely amazing, I am in awe of you sir... I really do doff my cap to you, I can't wait to see it in person and drool over it!!!! Brilliant work, words fail me!

Wow!!
Looking awesome well jealous!!
Can I ask are the wiring plugs the same for the alarm and fuel flap buttons?

Stripped rear axle and removed standard bush.
Fitted polyurethane bushes and cleaned up and painted it.

Fitted 252mm vented discs .

Having to make 6mm spacers to fit the rear callipers as they came from 4wd to
car .

It’s been a couple of months, but finally got to work on the A2.

Fitted all the vented rear brakes with braided lines all to Audi A2 disc axle.

All poly bushes fitted too.

Really to swop over on the car now

Was only talking about this car the other day at the meet.
It is a truly amazing bit of work. I also like the fact you have a T Series 220 Cab too :)
I used to have a Nightfire Vitty fastback. Now just a 2.7 manual coupe and a 2.7 Stirling saloon in auto.

Excellent work! Was this a canbus A2 in the first place

Trying to put 2015 CGGB into 2002 A2 - mechanically perfect but wiring looms look tricky - have Polo/Ibiza 6R loom and clocks

So today I have removed the old drum axle and fitted the disc axle with the vented 256mm TT brakes .

Will refit the Anti roll bar in the week .

The old axle wasnt in that bad of condition .

Yay!

Good to see this moving forward after a bit of radio silence. It's one heck of an undertaking and clearly very time consuming!!

Looking forward to the next installment.

Finished the rear disc conversion today.

To convert any VW from solid rear discs to vented discs not only do you need all the discs calliper and carriers to fit, but you need to make a 6mm spacer to move the carrier out .

The original hand brake cables work ok

Fitted the anti roll bar too .
