Who's seen Vauxhalls new mini-MPV thingy, the "Minerva" I think it's called.

Was the A2 designer doing some freelance work for Vauxhall when they designed the thing?. I think it has 'A2' in it. What do others think?.

Have a look at the 'Opel Concept M' page under 'interesting/misc images' on my site.

It is fairly similar to the A2. But let's face it, it'll never be as unique even in the same league as the A2.

First posting to forum since my recent acquisition of a Dolphin Grey 1.4 SE (just this week) :D.

On the subject of A2 look-alikes, have a look at the Ford Focus C-Max in this week's Auto Express. The blue-oval designers have taken a leaf out of the A2 file, especially the C-pillars, side profile, glass roof and dash layout.

Are we going to go through another few years of all cars looking the same ... remember the dull Escort/Astra/Sierra/Cavalier era of the early 90's ... oh no [V]!!

Others may try and imitate but it just won't happen. I haven't had a look but I bet the Vauxhall Zafira hasn't got an owners club or dedicated following. The new Ford Fusion is another example. Probably a very good car but that's it.
With an A2 you buy an experience and a social aspect.

1.4SE petrol in Merlot Red, Biege interior, 16" 5 spoke alloys, DIS, Open Sky, Elec rear windows.

Totally agree ... the A2 defined the class, and in this case the original is the best. That's why I bought one!

I saw the Fusion close up a couple of months ago (because of my work), and was not impressed by either the exterior or interior detailing.

Hi all,

I read articles about the Meriva and the Fusion in a Dutch carmagazine.

I kind of like the Meriva. And yes, it has something of the A2 in it. It'll come with 5 different engines, 2 diesels (75 & 100 bhp) and 3 petrols (85, 100 & 125 bhp). The rear seat bench will be very innovative. The magazine was enthusiastic about the car. It will be on the Dutch market in spring 2003. Prices start there about € 1.500,= cheaper than the A2.

Read about the Fusion in the same magazine. Seems to be an UAV (= Urban Activity Vehicle ??). I don't like the design of the car, but that's personal of course. With the Fusion you'll have to choose between 2 petrol engines (80 & 100 bhp) and 1 diesel (65 bhp).
Driving this one in Holland will be possible in october 2002. The Fusion starts at € 14.750,=, while the cheapest A2 is € 20.230,=.
The magazine's conclusion was that it wasn't very 'multi purpose'.

When I'm off to the motorshow at the end of the month the Meriva is a high priority to look at. My father has had Vauxhall's for a long time and next spring he's up for a new motorbility car. As long as they launch it by January, and there's a 1.4 petrol auto from launch he expects that will be what he gets. Otherwise I'm not sure what choice there is. His current Astra (of the very unique saloon variety!) is a little big for my parents now, but he needs an Auto...

Of course that day I get to finally get a good look at A2's to decide if one should come my way. And look at the alternatives - I've never been to a motorshow to actually look at cars I might buy! Then again I might save my money for a house instead!
