Well done. A year later and you’ve cracked it! What a horror that you had to replace all the sensors first!

Map sensor had gone anyway lastime but i used a silicone based sealer for the blanking plate i should have used exhaust paste i refurbed the tandem pump last week it's like a new car.

I had limp mode on my last A2, started after cambelt/water pump change and never did work out what it was. On that car pushing past 3000rpm in 5th, especially up an incline, triggered limp mode every time. On this A2 it only happens occassionally when I push it past 90mph or try to take it to 4000rpm in 4th. As it’s rare I ever want to do this I have been living with it but you’ve inspired me to get to the bottom of it with your incredible perseverance! I think I will get underneath and check all the little vacuum hoses first difficult to see around the turbo area from the top of the engine. Im curous about the exhaust manifold blanking plate - is that a mod or would all tdi 75’s have it? If so could you post where in the engine bay it is so I can have a look? Congrats on finally ending your limp mode nightmare!

The blanking plate isn't standard i deleted the egr removing the egr pipe so the plates are just to blank the holes, ideally you need the car on ramps like you'd have at home to get under with a good torch first job check all hoses big one's from the intercooler and small vacuum ones make sure there all in one piece and attached where they should be then look at the intercooler for a split joint you will usually see a bit of rubber poking out of the joint which means seals gone, ideally a scan with a decent obd reader or vagcom could lead you right to the fault in my experience it didn't just ask if you need tips.

Brilliant thank you. I suspect the intercooler as the previous owner mentioned it had been replaced, however the oil underneath the intercooler looks fresh, so maybe they tried a cheap fix. I can’t stretch to the £500 for those amazing all alloy intercoolers on timmus’ thread but a genuine one should last a good few years. Fingers crossed its just a vacuum pipe!
