Is it a threaded drain bung? Would a standard bung not do - eg the type found with air beds and the like.

I think thats one of the two rubber capped water dranage "tubes" that push on underneath the bonnet Spike. I think you are right about a better picture. The original one appears to show a key shaped type item that fits close to the bulkhead ?. Is it a small drain tube that pushes into the black plastic lower scuttle which catches water off the windscreen. ?. Is there small hole under the scuttle tray "sinless". ?. Have a look at this - a water drainage tube shown as 2F - part number 8Z0819307C'

Appreciate everyone looking. It's a smaller version of the ones attached to the underside of the bonnet that channels the water away. Its the one on the passenger side of the bulkhead shown here

I think that part number 8Z0819307C is what you need - it doesnt show a part number for the rubber tube that fits onto it. They will not be very expensive to order from a dealer or a breaker. I would ring them and enquire about the rubber tube that goes with it.

Think your right Dave. I have the tube but no rubber flappy bit on the end. Its a small version of the ones on the underside on the bonnet. Shall ask Audi tomorrow.

Many Thanks Guys!

The picture in the first post is a good likeness. Is it perhaps part of B and is not available as a separate item. I also don't believe it is anything to do with drainage - it's too short. 8Z0819307C is perhaps the drainage tube for the cover at the base of the windscreen. It looks to me as a simple non-return valve - air can only pass out of it and not into it.

I agree Rab that the first diagram resembles a form of "tap" release valve but the photo looks very similar to the drain tube part.

The drain tube for the moulding at the base of the windscreen is about 18mm OD, much larger than what A would be connected to, in a different position and it drains into the wheel arch. If A was a drain it would drain to a lower level, not drip water over the rear of the engine. A has a flat end, so that air cannot enter it.

I think you are right and i am wrong - the one I found could be the tube that drains out through the wheelarch - thankyou for pointing this out. I will continue my search for a part number.
