Haven't used the A2 for a while, so its been parked up outside the house. Last night, I opened the boot to put something inside and thought lets check it still starts. Started perfectly no issues at all, then whilst sitting in the drivers seat, I could hear water dripping loudly. It was coming from underneath the glovebox.
Today I removed the glovebox to check where it was leaking from. The pollen filter housing seemed wet, so I opened it and removed the filter. It was full of water, it only seemed to drip water when the climate control was on. It stopped when it was switched off. I decided to take the bonnet off and check the expansion tank, the bonnet was really heavy cause it was full of water. I have had 3 A2’s now and never ever had this happen, must of been all the recent heavy rain we have had. I emptied the water out and noticed that the bonnet has 2 drain plugs, these where blocked completely with sludge stopping anything escaping.
I have removed the bonnet so many times and totally never even noticed them, spent a bit of time cleaning them and put everything back together. Fitted a fresh pollen filter and even fixed my broken glovebox, and the car is perfect again.
I really thought it was the end of the road for my A2,
