I fear if it comes down to that then, it'll be new replacement bricks, this is because the top side of the bricks are tapered as opposed to bottom side.

For drive cleaning the easy way:
Take a bottle of neat washing up liquid.
Create puddles of washing up liquid on any stains you want to remove.
Here is the best bit....
LEAVE IT ALONE for a few days.
You can then hose or jetwash it off.
Works a treat.

Thanks for posting these pictures. Out of interest, did you have any trouble undoing the nuts holding the EGR pipe to the exhaust manifold? I wanted to remove the pipe when I blanked my EGR, but I was worried about snapping a stud.

Apparently coca cola is also very good as an oil remover. Remour has it that Coke use the neat ingredients of coke in their maintenance bays for de-greasing their trucks.
Did the timing chain break?
Or has it just been disconnected
