Chat Who's had some snow?

IMG_3297.jpg
A couple of inches by early Sunday morning, a couple more during the day!
:)

Drove to Cambridge from Bristol on Friday night - freezing in the cabin as the thermostat is stuck open! Drove back in the snow on Sunday through the day - 7 hours! Went a different route to usual to avoid the minor roads and didn't spot google taking a shortcut until too late and had to reverse down a hill as couldn't get to the top! A2 handled OK on the flat in the snow even with poor tyres (that are due a change before Christmas!) - just have to be sensible and don't do anything too sudden. Almost had an F-Pace wipe me out shortly after setting off - coming the other way on a minor road near Cambridge and had a real wiggle but fortunately sorted itself out before passing. Think the other half took a couple of pics so will try and nab her phone and update this evening. Oh, and a bit of cardboard in front of the radiator sorted out the engine and cabin temperature - the gauge read 90 the whole way back rather sitting on min when on the move...

Edit: No pics on the white roads sadly :(

Just a word of caution to all those playing in the white stuff - do consider getting some decent all-weather tyres or specific winter ones. Even with quattro drive, you'll get nowhere fast if you try tackling snow and ice with summer rubber boots, you'll just spin 4 wheels instead of 2.

Best investment I ever made for Tank and enabled 3 point turns on 1 in 4 hills on packed hard snow. Much to the amazement of the drivers who were slithering down the slope towards the 2 cars who'd just lost it in front.

Or, if you're not confident driving in adverse weather, get the bus! Sorry for swerving the thread but this clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Pcdg9m7Dao
is one of the best I've seen demonstrating the value of professional driver training.
