TDI Boost Gauge

I'm considering installing a boost gauge on my 75bhp TDI, and i've hit a few problems.
Firstly, where can i connect the boost host on the car (intake manifold or vacuum line)?
From what i've read, diesels don't produce negative pressure, so a negative scaled gauge is useless.
What is the maximum operating pressure for the standard turbine?
I'm considering a remap, so this is going to be an useful tool.
Anyone having answers or experience is welcomed to give his/her's piece of mind!:D

Hi there,

I had the same problem a few years back when I had my 1.4 TDI Lupo. I found out that none of the vacuum hoses on the AMF engine cary any boost at all. Only Vacuum (i.e. Suction) The way I ended up doing it was installing a nipple in the top hose.

I have since done the same thing on my Bora 130TDI and it works a treat.

The nipple I have used is the Revotek SST01 (5mm Barbed hose take off) which I purchased from MerlinMotorsport.

Here's a pic of where it installs:

I fitted mine into the rubber pipe which joins upto the EGR valve. It seemed the most sensible position.

Easy to fit and works a Treat.

Hope that helps.
Cheers, Al.
