Here she is picked her up today has some issues as I'm sure most do at this age its a 2002 1.4 SE AUA with OSS with around 72k.

Not used to driving a manual again my other cars are autos. It wasn't fun i tell you in nearly 2 hours in solid traffic in this sh*tty weather today.
1st I need to buy a new wiper this one is juddering the linkage looks ok again the weather is awful to really check
OSS will need some maintenance i hope.
roof lining is dirty
has some scuffs here and there its a 15ft car lol
also planning on doing a cambelt, tensioner & water pump myself in the not to distant future as i don't want to drive it anymore until then.

any comments much appreciated! and thanks for the welcome and help so far

another thing i noticed on the journey home the temp gauge was fluctuating from 80 - 90 prob on its way out.
I'm guessing i will need to replace the thermostat with a Genuine part

done a search on this forum, looks like i have an issue with the CCU! doors keep locking by itself all the time. had to disconnect the battery tonight

edit: just realised I have left the spacesaver in between the floor thats going to be fun to get to the battery doh!

There is a manual tailgate release accessed from inside the car.
The wiper judder may be more than just the blades. The arm joints wear and it is important to check them. As the arm gets closer to the screen it will crack the screen.
The arms are NLA but a member offers a refurbishment service. I think it is @depronman he also supplies other useful A2 fixes and upgrades.

May I take this opportunity to welcome you, nice colour. Very good workshop for a2's is B&F Autos
in West Hounslow. Hugely knowledgable and don't charge "stupid money" I personally wouldn't be without an @depronman wiper arm. Better than new. Also door check straps that he does are great.

Hope to see you at Kimbolton, first thing is to get that cambelt and water pump done. They will also check the car over and tell you what else needs doing. A lot less money than finding out the hard way!

all the best.

Hi,
Nice car and the 1.4 AUA is has some beans between 3000 and 5000 rpm but not many.
What is nice about the 1.4 is you can do 30mph in third as you would expect, fourth with no problem or fifth on the flat. The gearboxes on the petrol, in comparison to the diesel, are more user friendly.
Going up hill you will need to change down but you'll be used to that.

Enjoy your new project. These are well built and quirky gems.
Oh, forgot to say if you like safely carrying speed into corners, well you have the right car for that due to the box section space frame design.

Good luck :)👍

Had a bit of a look around her today not sure why there’s a larger gap between the B pillar and door frame the rubber on the pillar is very flat the passenger is about the same but the gap isn’t that noticeable on the other side

I suspect that someone has "played" with the window/door and not replaced it correctly. These little cars are extremely vulnerable to our friend Mr. Bodge.

As already stated: B&H in West Hounslow.

Thanks for the response and recommendation. I will be doing as much as I possibly can on this car myself and trying to teach my son a thing or two in the process.

Morning,

Good much with this one. Love the colour too. My next project had to be one of the rarer colours and have a soft spot for the Pine Green coachwork. Should look stunning soon enough.

Looking forward to following the progress. You’re certainly my in the right once to get ideas, inspiration and advice.

Kind regards,

Tom

Yes I quite like the Green reminds me of when I was looking for my first Audi I bought silver in the end I’m sure it was called Laurel Green

Looking at the OSS the sunblind has a scraping sound and a bit tight. Don’t think that’s normal. I hope it just needs lubricant

Spent a good few hours looking around the car today was a really nice day today
This car came with the Genuine Audi Rubber mats, the drivers side is in bad shape though. lifted up the rubber mats and found a lovely set of Genuine pretty immaculate carpet mats underneath!

noticed the passenger side head rest was on the wrong way round and no matter how hard i tried it would not budge!. i managed to get a small flat blade and manage to move the metal clip then the head rest came off pretty easily...

found the emergency tailgate release was stuck it and by the looks of things other folk had tried to open the boot and stretched the plastic tag, only to find it wasnt even connected to the lock!
IMG_7360.jpeg

stripped out the boot even the battery which to me is not the correct one for this car as the terminals are too small, cleaned everything out has some gunk and leaves looks much better now

also i spotted the battery does not have an adapter to connect the vent hose will need to find something to connect it back

Hi,
Would aquarium hose and connectors or universe windscreen washer hose kit like the ones on Amazon do the job on the battery connector ?

Edit: tried to add a link but it did not work.

:) 👍
