Can members wishing to visit the Secret Bunker contact me @ICowie so I can book the venue and give them a rough idea of numbers?

Thank you
It`s not very Secret. Well signposted. We drive past it all the time when visiting my Aunty in St Andrews.

Shame its not the previous Weekend 24th to 26th you could have taken in Volksfling at Biggar, where we may be going to pick up a spare Windscreen for our 1972 VW Type 3 Variant.

Martin and I are heading up to Moffat in the camper this weekend and will meet with George @NLS14M . We will try to get a place booked for Friday evening meal, if we could have and idea of who would like to join us for a meal would help.
Hopefully will post some enticing photos over the weekend.
@Teresa
@wills
@Rich.
Ah thank you. Gary and I would be interested in a meal on the Friday night assuming we don't get stuck in the A1 somewhere 🤞

When this social was first arranged, it was very much my intention to attend. Having been a student at St Andrews, I was very much looking forward to revisiting old haunts with the A2OC crew. However, I still can't yet drive again following knee surgery, so I shall eagerly await the photos and enjoy the trip vicariously.

I hope you all have a fantastic time.

Tom

Sorry to hear you're not going to make it mate, maybe someone could offer to chauffeur you about for the weekend 🤔

Good day out with George around Biggar, taking in the Japanese gardens at Stobo Castle Spa. It is certainly a lovely part of the world. More updates tomorrow

Great to meet Mandy and Martin yesterday and get there experience of organising a successful A2OC social. Route and stops of interest agreed along with evening dining option for the Friday evening.

Meeting again today to check out the Saturday route and sample the eaterie experiences.

Routes and meeting points will be published in next couple of days along with RSVP to give indication of possible numbers attending.

Tom,

Don`t think you ever told us you had been at St Andrews. We are up there about 3 times a year to visit my Aunty who was born in St Andrews. My Uncle was the only Watchmaker in St Andrews. W. Law.

Agreed; I don't think we've ever covered this topic.

At the time I left, I had a bit of a love-hate relationship with the place. It's a beautiful town and I enjoyed my student years there, but (despite its lofty position in UK university league tables) I felt that the quality of teaching, at least in the physics department, was appalling. I really didn't enjoy my degree course, despite my enthusiasm for the subject, because the attitudes of the professors and lecturers stank.
These days, though, I only find enjoyment in visiting the place. All the good memories totally outweigh the bad ones, and walking around St Andrews allows me to relive countless stories (some of which are best not shared in public!). :D

Best wishes,

Tom

@Teresa Is there a start time for Saturday? I/we might come up just for the day (working the others :( )

@timmus if you want picking up on the motorway on the way past, it doesn't get you to St Andrews but a chance to join anyway.

I think it's around 9.30-10am from Moffat but I am sure @NLS14M will be putting full itinerary up in the next couple of days

Hi Bertie

As RZX has said, we will be looking to meet in Moffat 9.30am for a 10am drive-off. Full details will be posted in the next few days. It would be great if you can make the day.

Regards

George
