Today I.....

Hi TFG ...
Thank you for the compliments ... I don't know for sure but have a look in the link below, the starter and solenoid looks to be universal across the range (apart from the letter suffix) and the armature is definitely the same so can't think why they would need to have different brushes ... sorry I can't be more specific, I had the luxury of having mine stripped down to get the part numbers.

If it helps I can message you directly with links to where I bought the parts, not sure if I can post this information on the forum.[/QUOTE

I think you can post this information as i've seen lots of posts of this very nature "where did you get the parts" and the places have been posted on the forum without any moderator intervention, reprimand or the like.

They cost me 16 EUR (about 14£) for pair at local dealer shop (not UK) and it was one of the cheapest brand.

Had a poke at the heater flap gears that appear to stick. I gave it a squirt of lithium grease (which now means that it will soon be sticky and dirty) but I'm pretty much of the opinon that it's not the gears that stick, but the stepper motor that is failing. Replacing it looks like an unpleasantly fiddly job, access is terrible unless you happen to be a double-jointed 5 year old who can work upside down in the footwell.

On the upside I repaired the glove box light switch that broke years ago - I wonder how long my fix will last ...

Today I
I collected my new rear drums, shoes & cylinders.... I hate doing drum brakes so it’s in to the garage later this week.

That’s once the McGuard lockers have been removed using a special tool as I broke the adapter getting this one off!

Today I completed one side of the big brake upgrade to my 90. Brought on by a need for a new hub/bearing on the FSI, so using man-maths I bought the hubs for the 90 to take the big brakes, then will use the removed hub to fix the FSI! Other side still to do, most of the work was prep so will be much quicker.

I have only rarely had brake fade on stock brakes with - Pagid discs, green stuff pads, braided lines and 5.1 fluid.
But while really pushing on it does happen. Also theres that thing about just wanting to play and try another upgrade, especially one that isn't well documented on here, so why not.

So it is a bolt up kit and is basically the Skoda Fabia VRS/1.9tdi front hubs, 288mm discs and calipers. They just match up to existing shock, tie rod end, wishbone, axle/nut, abs wiring and brake hose. Used off the bay for about £50 a side plus ECP for new discs £60 and pads if needed at £25. new axle nuts, £5, copper washers for the brake hose. About £200 all in, but you get fresh discs and pads so worth doing if they are worn.

Happy to do a write up/pics if required?
