There a quite a few different suppliers of EGR valves that claim to be suitable for a 1.4 AUA/BBY petrol. I find it difficult to believe that only one supplier's valve will function correctly. There are two types of EGR valve, pneumatic and electric. Yours should be pneumatic I believe, which should mean that any "suitable" valve is more likely to be compatible. Is it possible that you have a vacuum leak rather than a faulty valve?I disconnected the cables to the EGR valve and the engine runs perfectly! Even though I have a new EGR valve there must be something wrong with it. A mechanic said it has to be a Pierburg original EGR. Nothing else works. My EGR is not Pierburg. Can that be the problem? Do anyone have experience from another brand of EGR?
Now the check engine light is on so I guess it will not pass MOT without an EGR. Should I replace it with a Pierburg?
Which supplier in Germany?Pierburg egr seems available in germany for under 80euro. Nice then, one step closer to the solution hopfully. .
The drawing shows a vacuum connection. There's also an electrical connection:

Thanks for the feedback, glad you got it sorted.I ended up buying a Pierburg EGR valve on Amazon. They have just started up in Sweden and have free delivery and great price. I replaced the EGR and the car runs beautifully. So, to sum up, my problems was caused by two things:
1. The cambelt was out of timing, probably slipped a gear
2. I had the wrong EGR valve even if it was new. I replaced it with a genuine Pierburg and all problems are gone.
Hmm. I doubt that my mechanic has that tool, any DIY suggestions @depronman ..
i will ask him first tomorrow than ill start from there, thank you guys.
