Evening all,
Apologies for leaving this thread dormant for a while, not much been going on with this daily commuter recently. It’s been serving it’s purpose just perfectly but no additional enhancements for a while.
After a little misdemeanour yesterday I can report that, yet again it sailed through MOT. The tester was quite taken with the quality and loudness of the twin tone horn, so glad I upgraded to this set-up whilst I recently had the front bumper off.
The misdemeanour that occurred was initially to fail the MOT due to the vredestein collapsible spare being fitted (different tyre sizes on the same axel) due to getting a puncture whilst out yesterday morning for a pre-MOT warm up.
Whilst changing the OSF wheel over I unluckily picked up a nail in the NSR tyre, yesterday wasn’t a good day for me and tyres.
4 new boots fitted today and no advisories.
Tomorrow it’s off on a journey to roughly where it was first purchased some 19 years ago… I’m heading to collect a Soul double DIN dashboard from
@A2Steve and also heading to elsewhere in Wales to assist another Club member with parts collection.
With only 1 week commuting remaining before I break for the festive period, this glorious A2 will be having its Jive double DIN dashboard removed and the Soul replacement fitted, this should make it look a little better to eye as I’m no longer a fan of the Jive colour.
Also the TT M revision slip ring has been removed and the A6 AL revision has since taken its place. Next week will see the 5th different steering wheel being fitted, a SQ5 MFSW will temporarily control the direction of travel whilst I prepare the A3/5 FBMFSW with the heating element. Testing is complete and I have now mastered the art of removing the leather covering with our getting creases along with stitching it back onto the steering wheel.
Fingers crossed I’ll finally have the heated sterling wheel that I set out to achieve many months ago. It’s not been the straight forward task that I first thought as there have been a few variables to consider for safety along with trying to obtain a reasonable priced VAG factory heated steering wheel to play with. I’ll provide a full write up once I fit my HFBMFSW!
Kind regards,
Tom
