Today I.....

Today I spent another 2hrs Looking for my first A2 🙄 lots of poor cars out there and sellers with a strange idea of clean,no wear inside and no idea of what to charge ! 🤦‍♂️🤷🏼😊
I spent a month looking for mine on ebay and FB, paid my subs for the marketplace and put a wanted ad on. Found a car that wasn't being actively sold quite quickly. Definitely worth a try, you don't know what's out there about to be listed.

Drove another 200+ mile journey today to near St. Albans and back round to Purley and the odometer clicked over 150k miles. 200k club here we come! Air con still not fixed so windows open all the way - although it was still pretty sticky at times! I can confirm that any member with an A2 that wasn’t blessed with climate control from new should not be considering a leather seat upgrade….

I had to run into Axminster on an errand and then across south Somerset to Yeovil on backroads before joining the A303 - a lovely route. At Sparkford I managed to fill up with cheap diesel (well, £1.90/L !) which was a result, so once again I brimmed the tank to the absolute max using the burp toggle and reset the trip counter: I got to 170 miles before the needle moved off the “full” stop!

Predictably enough, on the M25 around London the standard of driving was in some cases conspicuously third-world: at one point I got cut up so badly with literally inches to spare by some idiot trying to cut across 4 lanes of traffic to make his exit, that I saved the incident on the dashcam and shall be submitting it to both the police and also to the UK dashcam YouTube channel - neither of which I’ve ever done before. The twin horn conversion was used to full effect!

Today I .... took my twenty year old A2 1.4 SE out for a drive in the countryside as the weather was exceptionally good. Chuffed I could actually still remember where most of the controls were. Sadly had to pop it back into my garage with the odometer showing only 48.850. Need to save up until I can next afford petrol so I can add some more mileage :(

Today i (well last night) had my a/c re-gassed.

It is now ice cold and a very pleasant place to be in this hot weather.

There was no gas in the system at all so hoping there are no leaks and it at least lasts for the remainder of the summer.

I checked for fault codes before taking it be done (which there were several) but deleted them, most of which were old leaving just the one current (G92). I also gave the flaps a good workout and checked the cabin filter was clean too.

🤞 for longevity but it's lovely to have it back working as it should, at least for now and which also strangely makes the car feel newer too.

These were the fault codes that were stored with just the one, number 5 of 6 still present👍

Lovely and cold isnt it this system is good. Did it pass a vaccum and pressure test? If it did it should be fine.

It really is ice cold, dare I say it almost too cold! 🥶😂

Yes it passed all the tests and was connected to the machine for around 45 minutes whilst it went through all the various testing, vacuuming and filling procedures.

I had it done at a Halfords Autocentre that tbh I wouldn't normally go anywhere near but a friend of mine knew the manager there and spoke with him before i went so I was relatively at ease and confident that he knew what he was doing 👍

Those codes relate to the flaps in the HVAC gubbins in the dash, which control temperature and airflow path not the AC. Temperature is controlled by varying the ratio of warm to cold air. They will not stop AC running. Clear them all, they may well be historical.
If you have VCDS, there is a Basic Settings routine that exercises the flaps.

Yes thank you.

I cleared them before I took it for the re-gas and they stayed off, other than the one (G92) which seems to be having no adverse effect on anything.

I guess time will tell 🤞👍

The V68, and the G92 relate to the temperature flap. V68 is the motor that moves it, and G92 is the potentiometer that tells the HVAC controller the position of the flap. Flap position is continuously variable, not to and from set position. Responds to the cabin temperature sensor, more warm air and less cold air when cabin temperature is below that set, and vice versa.
