Today I.....

Today I got my ECU back for our second A2, from Tom timmus, plugged it in and took it for a spin. Almost immediately the Eml light came on even though it drove very well. Back home and cleared several codes indicating inlet stuff and all is now good. It’s totally transformed the car and it now goes as well as ‘ORK‘ our first A2. Really happy with the result and home it’ll be been fuel as the difference between the 2 can be as much as 8mpg!

A great result. I'm woefully behind your video series, plot line spoiler here, but I'm very much enjoying the watch. Great to see regular A2 content on YouTube in 2022.

You have a lovely example and it is clear to see how much love you have for the car, not least the distance travelled to get the 'right one' for you. Definitely a sentimental part of the family, as they become for us all.

P.S. You can continue the A2 story with drives and general adventures. Keep the series alive. :)

Today my A2 passed Slovenian MOT with flying colours. Aftet 8 years of not being on the road, it will finally be able to do some miles :)
I am quite excited…

Thank you. I am glad that you enjoy the series.
I will continue with the content, since it is still a lot of things to be done and definitelly drives parts will follow. We have beautiful roads perfect for A2 here in Slovenia. I was just thinking of getting a drone for better shots. Will see..
Also I hope I will be able to shoot a few videos with A2s from few other A2 enthusiasts here in Slovenia.

Oh I’m really envious of ‘beautiful roads perfect for A2’ I can’t vouch for other areas of the UK but in the South East they are generally ‘perfect for smashing your suspension‘

Excellent series which has really helped me a lot, thank you so much

Here road surface is also not really perfect as for example in Germany, but they are not bad.
But we really have a lot of backroads over hills and also mountains with very twist turns that are just perfect for a small car like A2 :). Can't wait to drive it there. Sadly I am completelly without time, so I will not be able to drive as much as I would like, but every drive will count.

We enjoyed a mini social at Tom's aka @timmus with a couple of A2 owners and showed them some of the delights of the area where Tom lives whilst he toiled in the heat fettling ours cars.

That's a lovely view Mandy, that I hope to see for myself some day! Hope you all had a good day with James and Billy.

A lovely day for it.

Frankie now looks to have some sort of bead of something between the back bumper and wheel arch? This was originally smooth and the bumper was one piece with the arch. Do you know what happened Mandy? I’m guessing the original filler cracked.?!

Yes he has and that is starting to crack, any advice welcome
I would imagine that is the paint reacting with whatever silicone or sealant has been used.

Ultimately it should all be sanded back and the votex separated from the bumper and arches and then re-painted. But unless you know of a forgiving bodyshop then that’s going to be quite expensive.

Ideally it should at least all be sanded back and re-painted.

While it was in Sam’s ownership, any development of bodywork issues weren’t going to be a problem because we had a very reasonably priced bodyshop on hand and so we went ahead and blended the votex kit in. In hindsight if we knew we were going to sell it we would have just painted the car without any filler work.

Watch Your Dash Folks

Well with temperatures breaking records I remembered an Italian on A2OC reporting that in Italy a number of A2 owners had dashboards that were melting - and I think an A2 that was imported to Australia had the same problem. Whilst it's a cool 33 here in Wiltshire ;) I decided to put some white foam board on my dash. 2 large sheets, one cut 2/3rd, 1/3rd, on the top of the dash.

Afterwards I remembered that somewhere I had a foil backed windscreen cover for stopping the windscreen icing up. Would probably work as well.

My low fuel warning came on earlier in the week after 505 miles. It's a 2004 75 TDI. I know it can go much further but I have never driven it till I run out. So last night I went out with a spare fuel tank with 4 litres of fuel in. It stopped at 617 miles and luckily right next to a BP garage. 49.75 litres (including 4 l from the spare fuel cannister) and I'm totally full and off I go. More confidence in my range now and that the low fuel light gives be approximately another 100 miles.
But £98.89 for a refuel was a shock!
