Do these fit straight in or need.some canbus adaptor?
A visit to @Kleynie beckonsThis week, my car and myself paid a visit to Marcus and Rob at WOM Automotive for the MYP conversion with new starter motor, flywheel and clutch. Car went in on Monday and I pick it up on Thursday. Great services and very good conversations with both Marcus and Rob. I had quite the test ahead of me, going from Uttoxeter to Wakefield to meer @Howey to pick up a set of pepperpots and then all the way back to Canterbury.
What can I say, such an improvement on the old gearbox. No more struggling to get into third gear and especially such a quite ride at speeds between 60-70mph. The engine is clearly under much less stress at these speeds. In fact, I am now getting annoyed at the wind noise coming from my OSS (I am wondering - since it is not working - if I could fit some material on the inside to reduce it). I even am under the impression that fuel economy is slightly better as well. It is quite strange to get used to the shorter throw of the MYP gearbox and for some reason my brain always wants to shift 5th - neutral - 6th rather than straight into 6th. I have to confess, I have only driven one other six-speed car (my inlaws old Mercedes A200 CDI).
So, that means that from the original list I had to improve my car when I joined the forum just over two years ago, I am down to the last item, i.e. fix the OSS.
Once again, thank you to Marcus and Rob at WOM and all you lovely people for the advice on the 6-speed conversion!
@timmus would be your man there I think. @Robin_Cox also has a spreasheet of A2-compatible gearboxes with their ratios (don't forget the final drive).Just out of curiosity, does anyone know the correct ratios for the MYP in order to change them in the settings of my colour DIS?
Evening Thomas,
I’ve just stepped outside for you Sir as I have this very setup in Project OEM:
This is the information that was entered when first installed.
Thank you for such a request that see me jump into the drivers seat of my old commuter, which I’ve not driven for some weeks now.
Kind regards,
Tom
Much quieter I bet as well?Drove to Belgium yesterday evening with Project Sicily. Two people and the car in van mode with lots of stuff. No traffic between Calais and our place in Belgium, stuck to limit where legally required (70 and 90 km/h), 105km/h on the French and Belgian motorways. Managed 4.1l/100km, which is almost 69mpg. So with just me, no luggage, the pepperpots in the near future, and better atmospheric conditions, a sub 4l/100km or >70mpg should be within reach. New MYP box making quite a difference there.
Nice going Thomas. What cruising speed are you doing to get those economy figures - and are you still in Canterbury or are you in Sicily now?
That's about 74mpg and just a little better than what I can coax out of mine at 65-70mph cruising speeds.
Not to shabby at all for a TDI90 Thomas.
