£97 is about the price of a FSI thermostat, suspect the wrong model quoted. Aftermarket under £10.Dear All
Hope everyone is keeping well.
I recently got quote for a thermostat from our sponsor. Nearly fell off my chair on the cost for the thermostat £97!!! Hope that’s nothing to do with Brexit or energy price. Lol
Any suggestions on alternatives guys?
Thanks as always
Recommend you check the price of the correct Audi part, as some aftermarket thermostats are not accurate, as others have found. Key parts, such as sensors and thermostats are best replaced with genuine parts. Ask Tom @CreweAudi for a price.£97 is about the price of a FSI thermostat, suspect the wrong model quoted. Rule 3 should be extended to read DO NOT fit aftermarket thermostats or under-bonnet electrical sensors (with the possible exception of Bosch in the case of the latter).Rule 3: DO NOT fit aftermarket thermostats, guaranteed to create tears at bed time. You might want to check whether it needs a new thermo housing, they get brittle and crack. Woosh and all your coolant has gone. Careful about who you get to do the work, Rule 2.

Thanks Mate. I did get quote from Tom at Crewe who advised it to be £97. Was bit shocked with the price hence was asking.Recommend you check the price of the correct Audi part, as some aftermarket thermostats are not accurate, as others have found. Genuine means made to original Audi spec, for Audi. OEM means it might be made by the same manufacturer as the genuine part, but, importantly, not necessarily the Audi spec, to reduce the cost, an consequently the quality.

Hi H-M3Just an update. Messaged my local Audi and my contact came back with thermostat for £30.77. However, he asked me to find out the brand my current one is, FA Henschel or FA Himmermann. Any idea guys?
Hi H-M3 ... personally I would check with the parts department at the dealership against the vin code but if that's not an option then I would either take the cover off and check or order both and return the unused one. Volkswagen, Skoda, Seat or Audi should be able to supply a genuine part with your vin number or reg, Skoda were able to check and supply for me ... I also bought an aftermarket thermostat housing by Topran. Thanks Tom! My one is the same year as yours (GY02...) shall I just orde fronskoda
