JR,

Sorry about that. You are right to complain when slapstick standards are not good enough. As regards Mr Dusdale, well yes the matter is disturbing, and I worry that I will come home one day and find him in my bed.

As long as you don't jump in with him and shout "show me your Tesco's" then we are all safe...

Factor - Free Masons would not disclose their secrets over an internet forum, so being that you clearly do not hold a Tesco “Club Card” its difficult to divulge too much. Pity really because I think you would have blended in well with the Tesco secret handshake.

Glad to see this thread is deviating like most do. Other forums are nowhere near as interesting or as friendly as this one. I was looking on a Subaru forum the other day (I lead a sad life) and they seem to spend a lot of their time slagging off drivers of other makes of car.
Is that far enough away from the start of this thread?

Bloody Subura drivers – make you sick don’t they. Thankfully my branch of Tesco’s refuses to allow them into the carpark unless they have a disabled sticker.

Martin,

I know what you mean about this forum. I tend to read several other forums ranging from cars and home hi-fi to medical issues and none are as friendly or as busy as this one. You know that if you post a question someone will have answered it by the next morning - even if it has no bearing to the original question and in fact refers to the delicatessan counter of the local Tesco.

By the way, in my formative years I did actually work on the deli counter of my local Tesco. Do we have any other employee's/ex-employee's of said supermarket chain. And if so do they still have their staff discount card??????

What you find out on this forum is amazing. As it is I agree with Tony Blair that when the Royal Family are thrown out of Buckingham Palace it will be occupied by either the Beckham’s or someone from Tesco’s with lots of “Club” points and an A2.

JD-I see "another one" wants to join the Master of the Tesco Shopper?. I must protest that this forum is becoming a free-for-all on the Tesco front. In the old days it was just a small number of us, and that was the way it should have been until we built up enough power to spread the Tesco message to the world. Instead all these additions have diluted our urges. It shouldn't happen.

I suggest the few strong ones break from this forum and set up "TESCOA2.net" so we can re-group and await our day.....and attack the Audi dealers with Tesco french sticks.

When I purchased the 1.6 I did want a diesel, but they had an ex demo 1.6 which had only doen 800 miles and had a fantastic price tag to match. My 1.6 has done aprox 3.5k, and so far it has only got better and better. The drive is more responsive and obviously I've got to know the car as well which helps, If you look back in the archive I wrote quite a lot of messages back in August when I was test driving both the diesel and the 1.6fsi, and my response was very simular to others when I testdrove the 1.6fsi which only had about 500miles on the c lock(which incidently is the car I now own!). My tip would be give it time! it's like a good wine! I think that a lot of us are thinking of a traditional petrol car when we test drive the 1.6fsi and it's not! Yes it is more noisy when you start up and it's beheaviour is very diesel like in a lot of ways, but (I know I will step on diesel owners toes by saying this) more refined, smoother and quieter. It does exactly what it says on the tin, it's a highbreed diesel/petrol a sort of halfway house. The one main thing I love is that the car has two personalities, drive it like an old persons car and it will, give it a bit of push and it's a golf gti take my word it's more fun that way! I optewd for the sports kit, and I get a lot of lingering looks, this wwekend I saw a couple judging the car for 15mins in the car park! You just want to pop over and tell them it's out of aluminium as well!

Potato,

Please stop! When I read your post about the 1.6 FSI I become very jealous. Here in Holland the 1.6 FSI is not and won't be available, so I'm told by my dealer.
I like to read the other posts where people tell me it's slow at low revs, makes a lot of noise, drinks like an elephant and has a lot of faults. When I read that, I'm only happy I won't be able to buy a car like that.

If there are some others with good experiences with the 1.6 FSI, don't tell me, or I'll be forced to import one sooner or later....

Regards,

JanF
