I have 205/55 on TT alloys and they rub at the back on bumps or with load and on the from when hard locking turns. My alloys do push the wheels right out to the edge of the arch though.
I reckon 205/50 (which is about 10mm smaller) will fit no problem and quite a fair few on here run that size.
205/45 is effectively stock size - apparently the speed runs about 3% under at this size.
I too am swithering about which smaller size to go for so will watch responses with interest and until then will continue with my 205/55 and a lightly laden car driving slowly over bumps.

If you are interested in handling and road grip plus ride comfort, I can heartily recommend 215/45x16 Nokian Blue2's on the 7x16 ET35 Audi A1 rims.Guys, which one? I have 16x7 wheels and need summer tyres. Comfort vs fit vs other aspects.... any experiences or advice? Thanks

I tried to add some photos for you, but evidently the files were too large (any tips??).
