At last, I’ve sourced my box (recon MYP, thanks @andrewgeorge , and thanks too to @A2Z for stepping aside). Seemed like a good, relatively safe option at a fair price. Thanks to all the advice from you along the way so far, it really helps.
Now, the one thing I still need to get is a starter motor (and connector?) that’s compatible with the MYP box. I’d really appreciate some guidance (e.g. part number) as to exactly what I need. Naively I hoped plugging in “MYP starter motor” on eBay might come up with something but it didn’t.
One other thing, I have been wondering what to do with my original box once my MYP is fitted. My father, who is never short of an opinion ?, was adamant I ought to keep hold of it and eventually sell it with the car as he claimed it would greatly increase its value as a “future classic” as somebody might want to take it back to its original specification, with matching part numbers. I was pretty sceptical myself as, while Gracie might be a virtually unique car, she’s probably already clocked up too many miles to be much value to a collector. And I don’t have much room to store a gearbox anywhere, but could if I thought it was really worth it. However I’m not especially clued up on what’s important to genuine collectors… I’d be interested in people’s opinions.
