I am having the dreaded max volume or no volume issue does any one know where to have this fixed or should I just buy a a new Audi chorus II units from a a3, I know that I will have to run can wire off the dash.
Is the a3 unit size too big will it need to be trimmed ?

Thanks for the link spike,
What are my other options if I don't want to repair or fit a aftermarket unit?
Could i use a a3 concert II unit, would this need trimming on the edges to fit??
I understand it requires a little rewire of can wires from behind the dash dis, I am confident to do this as I have previouslly fitted a rns-e unit which required a similar modification. Is there any thing else I need to complete this stereo upgrade?

In theory an A3 unit could be trimmed to fit but as I don't recall anyone actually doing this mod I'm not 100% sure.
Ref the attached, other radios are a direct fit - http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?8208-Concert-compatibility&p=62822#post62822
Craigyb indicated in a previous thread it was possible to make a series2 radio work in an early model car by running can wires from the cluster but he is a genius on these matters so I'm not sure if any other mods are required.
Factory fit series2 radios 'remember' the security code if they are temporarily removed from the car but if they are fitted in a different car I think the code needs to be entered each time they are removed or the battery is disconnected.

Sorry I can't be more helpful

Cheers Spike

ive seen a newer chorus II part no: 4B0 035 152 C for sale, hoping it will fit but i belive this unit is a dark grey colour and not the black colour of my A2 dash!!!!
this is also around 50 EUR so not sure if it is worth the time repairing the old chorus i have or replacing it with a chorus II???????

Mine has CD changer in the back so the decision was easy. I do not know if chorus II has the same problem, but if yes, then probably you will soon get it. And also, I would not like to have the radio in different colour than my dash. Check also if you need some additional parts so that Chours II would fit.
But it is your choice.
