Hi ya'll
It's that time of year again when all the renewals come at once.....arggggghh! And zero % Visa cards don't help they just delay the pain!
Yes Car insurance.
Now as you know I drive the amazing 1.2 TDI version of the A2 which is of course LHD
For me to insure the 1.4 TDI RHD is around £360 and for a LHD add 25%.
Guess how much the less powerful 1.2 TDi costs to insure - if you can get an insurer of course!
Lowest quote was £599 !!!!![3][2]
Why?
Because the world has gone Matrix mad with computer systems that disallow anything not on their systems
In the bad/good olde days you could ring up a broker and he would asses the value and safety of your motor - modified or otherwise - i used to run a racing Fiat on the road and never had trouble with insurance as long as i got a report of all the mods that went with it.
Nowadays if the computer doesn't list a 1.2 TDi - even tho it is not modified and meets the most stringent EC regs - including being the most energy efficient and environmentally friendly production diesel on the planet and is driven by thousands of fellow europeans...... you can't get it insured!!!!!!
Help!
Please write to Audi UK and the ABI (assoc of british insurers) to get them to list this car on their database asap - there are several Lupo 3L's in the UK and at least one A2 1.2 TDi since Nov. 2002 - the DVLA are happy so why do i have to pay thro the nose for a car which i bought to save money and the planet?????
Failing this, anyone from the continent got any ideas? Can i get insurance from Germany or Holland for a car used in the UK?
Please email me
Thanks for your help
