Bespoke Club Branded Number Plate Surrounds

i already have a set of chrome surrounds however, my rear one kind of sticks out at the corners and doesnt sit flush with the shape of the boot. this causes a rattle when i close the boot.

I'm on my third "chrome-effect" plastic rear number-plate surround! They don't last long before deteriorating and looking tatty. I've purchased a true stainless-steel surround from "Demon-Tweaks". I've used them before on my Mercedes and they are 100% permanent. Now this is what I found on my Mercedes .... The front bumper had quite a curve to it, but no problem there ... the stainless steel plate can be forcibly curved to match. You should be able to do this with your surround to match the curve of the Audi A2 boot? I am now well into my back-lit rear number-plate project. It's going very well and I'm using a multiple LED light array. However, I've found that the LED's need to be positioned at least 50-60 mm away from the rear of the number-plate in order to achieve uniform illumination. (otherwise individual LED units can be detected). What this means is that the light-box will have to be fairly deep and may have to protrude through the internal rear hatch panel. I may have to cut away some of the metal of the rear hatch, too. Initial experimentation has been encouraging, though. The effect is quite stunning with the raised 3-D gell characters and a perfectly illuminated number plate. I've got to adjust the brightness so that it is just right and that will be it!. I do so love a challenge!

Hi All,

Just a gentle bump from last year. It seems there is a genuine interest in getting some surrounds made up, the real hurdle is finding out the cost and a minimum order figure. Did anyone make any enquiries?

I am to German what Del Boy is to French but willing to get in touch with Helmut Seitz in the coming weeks unless someone out there speaks German confidently and willing to help out.

Kind regards,

Tom

Evening All,

I have now emailed Helmut-Seitz and await a reply on minimum order along with cost. I would be looking for them to supply the Klipp Top 5 surrounds with the design quite simply WWW.A2OC.NET in the centre with an A2 line drawing either side of it. More than happy to take any advice on the design.

Can a Moderator/Administrator get in touch regarding that I can proceed with such an order with something containing the Forums web address

Kind regards,

Tom

I wasn't a member back in August when this came up, but now I might be interested in two sets for a reasonable price.

Morning All,

Ive had a reply from Franzisca at www.helmut-seitz.de and they can supply the surrounds to a design of our choice. They will require the the Club Logos in a vector file (cdr., eps., or ai), I will also need to know the font type required for the www.a2oc.net so I really do need some administrator assistance if we are to proceed with this venture.

If we were to go for the embosed/raised reflief script surrounds as per the images in post 1 of this thread the minimum order for us to go ahead is 200 peices (100 pairs/cars).

The price for Klipp Top 5 embosed surrounds is:

EUR 690 - 200 peices (100 pairs/cars)
EUR 275 - on time tooling cost, this would not be charged for future reorders should we sell the 200 peices.
EUR 25 - machine preperation charge.

So all in to order 200 peices is EUR 990 which will simply work out at EUR 9.90 per pair/car.

If we were unable to generate the selling of 200 peices there is an option to order 100 peices (50 pairs/cars) which is still the Klipp Top 5 surrounds but non embosed, basically digital direct print onto the surrounds at the following costs:

EUR 240 - 100 peices (50 pairs/cars)
EUR 25 - Machine preperation charge.

So all in would be EUR 5.30 per pair/car. This is certainly the cheaper option but I am more interested in the raised/embosed script with a chrome/mirror finish as per the images in post 1 of this thread.

So far they have not quoted any shipping costs but this will need to be factored in if they were to go to a single recipient in the UK which I feel would be the cheapest option but the p&p for onward distribution to each member will also need to be considered.

At this time I am not taking any orders until a member of the Administration Team contact me stating that they are happy for me to continue this venture (as I'll be using the club web address and logo) and also provide an agreed design in vector file. This is probably something to be done on a seperate thread so everyone has a say in the design.

Administrators/Moderators over to you please to provide some guidance.

Kind regards,

Tom

Definite interest here, is there a mock up available to see. Or if you have images I could put one together in Photoshop :)

Afternoon,

This is just 5 minutes work pasting into PowerPoint and wont spend any longer on it until I get clearance from Club Administrators as I am using their web address and logo.

I was thinking something like this but very open to suggestions as it would be a Club/group purchase. I will need to know what font to use for text and also get ideas for what logo to use either side of the web address.

Of note, looking back through this thread there are over 25 interested members (although most dating back to Aug 16) in purchasing these surrounds. That is a quarter way there, I'm sure we can find another 75 members.

Kind regards,

Tom

I'll take a pair when available at either price. I'm sure the admin team have already seen this and will appreciate a member taking the effort to get it done but they are all volunteers giving up their time so don't lose hope, you will get a response.

Hi steve,

Thanks for the reply. I'll wait to get an answer. In the meantime I might start a new thread concentrating on the design so everyone can have a say in what it will look like. A simple vote in a week or so (similar to the new Club logo thread) once members have given opinion etcetera. After that I'll try to generate a list like Steve Birchall has for the Votex kits and spoilers.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Tom,

Discussing on the admin forum, please bear with us.

Hi Tom,

Discussing on the admin forum, please bear with us.

Regards Yvonne

Thanks Yvonne,

The work you do in the background it much appreciated.

If I am cleared by the Admin Team to continue this venture I will start a new thread allowing maximum input/suggestions to get an agreed design. Once a design has been decided I would need to get another thread going to take orders and payment as I couldn't order from Helmut-Seitz without paying in full.

I have been informed that the delivery costs for 200 surrounds to 1 UK address will be EUR 56.

Still going for chrome script/logo Klipp Top 5 embossed surround, the price is:

EUR 690 - 200 peices (100 pairs/cars)
EUR 275 - One time tooling cost, this would not be charged for future reorders should we sell the 200 peices.
EUR 25 - Machine preperation charge.
EUR 56 - Delivery to a single point/person in the UK.

Therefore to order 200 surrounds the price has increased from EUR 990 to EUR 1046 which works out at EUR 10.46 (£9.18 at todays exchange rate of GBP 1 = EUR 1.3938) per pair. This is just for delivery to a single address in the UK (either me or someone else should the Admin Team decide to take it on) so additional p&p should be considered.

Im no expert on Royal Mail but I cannot see onward distribution to members (who have a standard UK Post Code) being more than £4-£5 for both p&p. I couldn't get a exact quote until I had a pair of surrounds at the Post Office.

The timeline on this isn't too long as delivery from Helmut-Seitz is 6 weeks after payment, subsequent delivery to members should only be a few days using First Class.

I hope this add to the decision going in favour of proceeding this venture.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Tom

Considering the work you have already put we are happy for you to continue with this. I'm offf out for the day and again out this evening, if I get a chance in between the day and evening events I'll PM you. If not it will be tomorrow sometime.

Vonnie

Thanks again Vonnie,

I'll wait for your PM and then start the design thread tomorrow. Lets hope there are 100 members willing to buy bespoke A2OC surrounds.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Tom,

PM sent.

P.s. I'd like to know where you get your Euro's from, as I can't get anywhere near that rate :p

I'm interested in the raised chrome lettering. My rear plate is flapping away.

Would be good to get a nice font for the web address. It'll be interesting working out what parts of the logo can be mirrored given the amount of linework.
