Gutted!
The A2 I was due to purchase had been with Hadwins Audi in Grange-over-Sands for 3 weeks. It was originally only going in for a final service before I purchased it, but they discovered a misfire which the dealer instructed them to repair. A £1400(!) bill later, Audi has replaced the body control valve(?) and I think he's regretting that decision - he collected it from Audi yesterday and the misfire still wasn't sorted. The dealer contacted me an hour ago to fill me in on everything thats happened, and has left me with two options:-
1) Choose another car from his stock with an additional discount due to me waiting so long already.
2) Refund my deposit in full and look elsewhere.
He also mentioned that the service manager at Hadwins Audi was due to call him on Monday morning and discuss why the issue still isn't fixed. He is understandably pi**ed off with forking out such a large amount on Audi's recommendation and the problem still isn't sorted. He said he would call me on Monday after speaking to the service manager.
Thing is, I do now have my heart set on owning an A2, which is probably why i've been more patient than I otherwise would have been. My time is running out though, due to us moving recently my wife and I are about to travel in different directions to work once she finishes her maternity leave at the end of the month. I HAVE to have a car sorted by then - i've got this horrible feeling i'll be forced into buying some generic soulless piece of cr*p.
I know i'm new to the forum but I would really appreciate some help in locating another A2, preferably the 1.6 FSI or TDI 90 as i'd sacrifice some economy for a little extra oomph. My budget is £3000. I would prefer full service history, or if any members here are familiar with a particular motor and can vouch for its roadworthyness. I would also prefer a leather interior (easier to wipe down - young kids). Trouble is, where i'm based (Cumbria) A2's are a little thin on the ground. I've take a quick look on Autotrader, but nothing really catches my eye.
HELP! Please.
