A2 Tyres

Just before i got these new toyo's fitted last week, accelerating was a bitch in the damp/wet whilst my tyres were gettin low, they weren't totally worn either but the last few mm's were crap at getting me the needed grip to go.

Have eventually replaced the front tyres with Toyo T1-R's this morning - 185/50/16V from E-tyres. Have felt a difference with the new rubber already, and am impressed The Michelins were down to 2mm and were starting to show.

Will give an update regarding the new tyres shortly when I have been able to cover more miles

Pound for pound, Proxes T1s are a very good tyre.

I had the T1-S on Little Tank and they were superb. I've now got Goodyear Eagle F1s on Tank and I think they are actually better, but they do cost a bit more.

Still wheelspins in 3rd though!

Cheers,

Mike

Tyres

I've just had 4 Khumos fitted to the standard 16 inch wheels. £204 fiitted from Blackcircle Tyres or £38 each just for the tyre. Great tyre in my opinion.

I use Yokohama Parada 205/45/R16 on momo wrs 16". I am very pleased. I saw on a forum that this type of tyre is anti-drifting. All the summer I didn't had any problem with. On curves at high speed the rubber works perfectly.
Since now, I used Conti SportTech 195/45/R16 - also good but not so stabile in curves like Yokohama. The worst was Dunlop.. A dark reminding:)
For winter I use common Uniroyal 175/60/R15. I can't make any coment about it...

I have been running Kuhmo Ecsta's (Spelling could be wrong!) on my other car (Peugeot 307 XSi) for about a year and can confirm that they have been an excellent tyre. They are very cheap through mytyres.co.uk and I can confirm that they are used by VW on some of their Polos.

Ian:)

The Kumho's on the front of our SE have done very well. Not sure how many miles they've done - I'll check back to see. Certainly will replace them with the same.

I said I would report on the Toyo T1R's. These are a very nice tyre and look the part! The ride is slightly softer especially over the speedbumps which plague the area I live. Driving in the wet is very comfortable and are exactly the way the press have described them.

I have recently looked at replacing the rear Michelins as age is catching up on them as they are still the originals from 2001. E-tyres are nearly £8 more than the price I paid before discount with the card and Blackcircles are quoting a 12 day lead time. This time could prove a problem if a tyre was required in an emergency!

A mate of mine has 4 tyres Pirelli P6000 powergy 185 50 16 new ones for sale.
If someone is intrested i can ask him what he wants for them.
Only thing is that he is on a hollyday and he will be back in 2 weeks.
Offcource there might be a problem with shipping (price), but i dont know about that.

Has to be the Kumho's for me. They were on the car when purchased. Still had plenty of wet road grip when close to the wear limit so fitted a new set. Great tyre at a great price.

Wookiee I have TOYO Proxes T1R's on the front & Kumho ecsta KH11 on the rear , the TOYO's are great but twitchy when you excellerate so have decided to replace the front two with Kumho's .The TOYO is the better tyre but back home in New Zealand we swear by Kumho's & Hankook. If you enter the tyre size in the web there's a number of people dealing in our tyre sizes , Black Circle & Mytyres seems to be the best price (Even Kwikfit can supply you with Kumho but at Kwikfit prices!!) Good luck
