not too much of an update today really, i took all the little bits of panels off that i cut around before so it was easier to take the rivvets out so heres a pic of how it is

and heres a video of how the tool works (very hard to hold it up with one hand and video it with the other lol) not a great video as i said before the phones ****, and i didnt change the quality of it either doh!!!

basically the arm on the left has a cup at the end and the arm on the right has a point on it, and the point pushes the rivvet into the hole of the cup.

and now i am waiting for one small panel (goes at the bottom of the quater/backpanel) and it is on back order so i dont know when it will arive sorry, but obviously i will keep you updated. and i cannot put the quater on or the back panel on untill i get this part grrrrrr.

thanks for update Ryan, but don't sacrifice the quality of the repair for the sake of a video, ha!
If we have to wait for the small quarter panel, any luck with the parking sensors?

ive asked darren and he has asked someone across at audi, just waiting for them to get back to us, cheers

Glen, worry not - if you want PDC I can do this after your pride and joy is back to full health.

It'd have been easier whilst the bumper is off, but not to worry.

audi have got back to us and apparently they cannot get the kit anymore? im quite confused as i would have thought they would have the parts in stock?

Surely that would mean any A2's that PDC fitted and they are damaged in a Accident does that mean they wouldn't be able to replace them

No Phil, the individual sensors are available, but the kit that Audi used to do is now not stocked.

In the event of a crash, only the sensors would need to be removed.

Thanks Ryan for update, appreciate the effort,i am a little confused why itisn't available, as it was offered as a retrofit by stafford audi when I had it serviced last time.
Mike if you can do it great, my other one has sensors which are flush so I would want the same. Drop me a PM when you get chance and we can sort

i think the panel is at work but unfortunately i am not, currently have some sort of virus, hence me being on here in the middle of the day, i wont go into details but ive never felt as bad as this before, hopefully its one of them short bugs so i can carry on with your car tomorrow.
The only problem with ally work is that the person who has been trained is the only one allowed to work on the panel work, if it was normal steel there would be someone else finishing it off, but unfortunately that isn't possible.

you don't get this info from the insurance companies lol, as soon as i have started work again i shall let you know, thanks, Ryan.

right today i went into work after being quite ****ty for half of last week and the weekend, still not the best, but i get bored being sat at home lol

so heres a bit of progress for you today

right the panel we have all been waiting for, clamped in place, and as the inner wing was slightly bent still (just slightly under tension) once it was clamped in place the panel was heated up and left to cool down to "set" into the right position, i do this with most ally panels to relieve the stress(no heting pics sorry otherwize i would have burnt myself lol)

once that was done the giant extraction pipe was brought across

panel and bit of car was primed

then glued (best have too much that to little the germans said lol)

and rivveted (crappy pic but this is the back of the new panel, the front is smooth and the back is raised just like origionals)

then same process with the inner part of the back panel

and primed and rivveted(notise the bar keeping the panel at the right heigh in the right corner)

theres still a few more rivvets and a few welds to go on it yet, they will be tomorrows jobs, then also theres the new lamp panel to go in, and outer back panel aswel, they will be tomorrow's jobs, then all thats left to do is the quater panel, im guessing that it will be primed and ready to paint by the end of the week if all goes well, fingers crossed
