Air con pipe melted by exhaust - heat shielding?

I've just had one of my air con pipes replaced because it had melted right through with obvious impact on air con performance. The car is a 1.6FSi.

Just behind the bottom of the radiator, there are two black air con pipes approx 2cm thick running horizontally. They sit one behind the other. The one nearest the exhaust was the one that had melted.

Should there be some heat shielding around these pipes? If so, does anyone have a picture of said heat shielding and if pos a part number?

The car isn't with me at the moment, but the melted pipe is. Here it is. The connector you're looking at goes into the compressor on the cambelt side of the engine. You can see the melted area.

Thanks - That's the chap. No heat shielding on yours then judging by the shots into the engine bay.

Hmmm...wonder what went wrong with mine. In the meantime, I wrapped the new pipe in silver heat reflective tape stuff and will be keeping an eye on it.
