Aircon Failure- 5 faults?

Hello, its been a while since I have needed to post a question, most of the answers are normally already here if you dig hard enough, however......Like a lot of other drivers at this time of year, I have discovered my aircon has stopped blowing cold so I found a local independant specialist and booked it in for what I hoped would be a simple re-gas (£85.00) Lo and behold, when my other half picked the car up she was told they had done the "re-gassing" but there were another 5 faults picked up when they carried out a diagnostic test!I was not happy at all, for a start I now doubt whether it needed a re-gas anyhow and even more unhappy to learn they also reckon the aircon filter is missing? I am resigned to dropping in into my local stealer to have it looked at but just wondered in the meantime whether anyone can tell me where I can check for this "missing filter" ? I didnt know there was one, I know of the pollen one under the glove compartment and have changed that myself in the past.
As for 5 faults......I am guessing a re-mortgage may be in order.....
Comments please?

Aircon Failure 5 Faults

Thanks Mike, I wont be able to furnish you with the fault codes until Mr Audi has plugged his little diagnostic thingy into it to get the codes. I would still be interested in knowing how comes it now appears to be missing its air con filter and whether it would still work without it....oh and where it is fitted would be nice!

Cheers

Hi John
The aircon filter is hidden behind the front bumper and only really visible from underneath the car with the undertray removed. Unlike other cars, the filter does not appear to be a service item and is only changed in the event of accidental (crash) damage. The filter unit 'cleans' the refrigerant and also contains dessicant to remove moisture.
For me the A2 system has so many unique features that I would not trust any of the non Audi 'specialists' to service the system unless I was happy they had some in depth knowlege of the A2 set up.

Cheers Spike
