Aircon losing pressure

Have just returned to this forum as my daughter has just purchased an 04 Colour Storm Tdi in lovely condition.
Have really missed my old A2.

Anyway her a/c was not very cold so have had it recharged and it worked great but over about a week it no longer cools the air much.

I presume there is a leak although it wasn't mentioned when it was recharged.

Can anyone suggest best means of remedying this, is it new seals or a new compressor.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Worth having a diagnostic scan as there are a few temp and pressure sensors in the system which could fail and give the same symptoms.

Cheers Spike

Thanks will arrange a scan or might buy an NT500 - would that do the job as I dont want VCDS as I dont have a windows computer.

Also if it was a sensor issue surely it would not have worked really well when they topped it up.

I would consider returning to the garage that did the regas. I am no air con expert but i would think that their equipment would have detected a leak. Asking them to take a quick look can,t do any harm and if it turns out that there are compressor issues then Europarts is the best place for a new one.

VCDS is the best thing to get. I guess you are running a mac. I would suggest Windows in VirtualBox with VCDS.

Before you spend any money on parts take it to a specialist air con repairer.
They can fill it and include the ultra violet colouring to highlight where the leak is.

If if it is a leak my money would be on the air con "radiator" or hose joints. Compressors rarely leak, they do pack in occasionally, but they rarely leak.
Addcent specialist will check this for you at a reasonable cost.
