Alarm going off

Just noticed that the alarm is going off several times overnight. I'll try the trick of sticking something on the service flap to ensure that the sensor button is properly shut - it does look as if the service flap isn't fully flush with the bodywork. [ thread under maintenance titled 'Easy fix for alarm going off' ]
I'll report back.
The lights are flashing but the alarm itself is really quiet - is there a battery in it or something that needs replacing? Car is now 23 year old.
Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.

A scan would tell you what's triggering the alarm.
Yed, battery in the sounder is dying. Don't leave it, as it will corrode and leak damaging the pcb. The battery can be replaced,but it's not easy.

Siren backup battery replacement.

Looks like I spoke too soon about my new A2 all working correctly, the alarm started sounding last night and after plugging it in to diagnostics and having a search on here it looked like it might be something to do with the backup battery in the siren. A replacement unit is around £80 but If...
