AMF tdi MAP Sensor interchangable?

Just wondering if the two different MAP sensors on 75bhp tdi's are interchangable.

I have a 2002, which required the following design:

2-5-BAR-Manifold-Absolute-Pressure-MAP-Sensor-For-AUDI-A2-A3-A4-A6-TT-1.jpg

Could I have fitted the cheaper design, fitted to post 2002 models?

Like this?

Grateful if anyone could confirm. Will be useful should I need another in future.

Cheers Bri

Both do exactly the same job. The newer smaller one is a far more common size. As long as the adapter to step up a smaller new design into the larger old intercooler is air tight then no reason not to use one as every other dimension is the same.

Hijacking this thread to ask if someone could find me the part number for the screws that attach the MAP sensor to the intercooler?

The ones on the intercooler I've just taken off are too badly corroded to even remove...

Help much appreciated!

I bought some hex-head stainless self tappers to fit mine as the heads chew up on the OEM screws and as you say, they rust. The hex head makes them easier to fit, too.

Size is 4.8 x 22, which is very close to the size given for N90172004. I bought mine on ebay, listing number 223524452542. I should add that i haven't had the car running yet with these fitted, but they feel fine to me. I used them with stainless washers.

This sounds like a good shout - thanks!

Just to update this. The hex head screws are a great idea, but the ones I got sent were an odd size, so I couldn't actually tighten them.

The heads were too small for an 8mm socket and a 5/16 spanner was only mildly better, but both just ended up shearing as soon as any resistance was felt.

I managed to get some of the OEM screws from a VW dealer so ended up using those, but they are awful - they might as well be made of plastic they're so soft.

I have 6 of the OEM screws available to any member that might need/want them - but I advise the hex head alternative as long as you can find a socket that fits!
