The topic says it all... are there any Mac-Users besides me on the forum?

Bye, Frido.

Well, I nearly qualify. I have an iMac, but also a Honda civic. I am still thinking (regretting mostly!) about my decision to go with Honda and might be persuaded to try an A2. However, I think the mac is definitely OK. Don't regret ditching MS/Intel a bit. Cheers.

Hello Norton ES2.
Is it a coincidence or do you own a Norton?. If you do you must buy an A2 (preferably Tdi)immediately. You will love it.

Hi Frido,

I've owned a Cube for three years and been running OSX since it came out. I like the elegance of the Mac hardware, the understated Aqua interface and the robustness of UNIX under the hood.

Come to think of it there are definite parallels with the A2.

Oh Yes!!! have an iMac at home X.2.4 and have 27 systems in my department at work.

I have a G4 at home and one of the Aluminum-shelled Powerbooks (12")...looks similar to my silver A2!
And about 120 Macs at work I have to worry about (actually, it´s the users I have to worry about, not the Macs..:)
Pity my G4/350 at work has problems with the javascripts on the A2OC page..:-(

@yoyoman: The iBook certainly does count...:)

Bye, Frido.

how is the problem exhibited, as I'm not aware of any problems, what OS and browser are you using?

:)Hmmm or is it as I've just discovered, you can't get into the chat room[?] It used to work:(

I just tried the A2OC page and the Chat with Chimera and Apple´s new Safari Browser, worked fine with both, it seems that Internet Explorer 5.2 is to blame here.... (I´m running Mac OS X 10.2.4 on both Macs...)

Bye, Frido.

Hello Norton ES2.
I gather from what you say that you are keen on bikes, and once rode an ES2.
Well, we have a shared interest!. I've loved bikes since I first started riding in 1963, and was lucky enough to work in the motorcycle industry for 18 years up to Dec 2000. And for 14 of those magic years was paid to ride Nortons, namely ****els-(sometimes up to 900 miles a day!- actually 1 day a mate and I did 1002 miles)very underated bikes.
The passion of my motorcycling life is taken care of by 2 Norton Rotaries ( 1 Air Cooled and 1 Water Cooled ). I've owned other makes, mostly BMW's, but the Rotaries are my Ist love!.
You're thinking of taking up riding again ?,well do it while you still can! I had to stop riding in Aug 2000, due to illness and wondered if my riding days were over, but was lucky ( in more ways than one ) and got back on my bikes in May 2002-- wonderful!!!. And now I've got an A2 as well, which is brilliant. Aint life great!!

Hi, John W. ES2 (mark2) from 1970 to 1973. Roadholder forks: went well round corners. I envy your regained enthusiasm! And your ****el engined machines. Were you a test rider? IoM or TT experience? I had the honour once to inspect a remnant of the Norton empire. At the time they were machining things on contract.. This would be in the 70's: Alex Cave was it who ran the firm then? He wouldn't say much!

regards

John A.

Hello JohnA,-Norton ES2.
Yes I was a test rider at Norton, from 82-2000.My "job description" was Fitter Tester. I worked on assembly, rectification, and was lucky enough to finish up in the development dept. When Norton slowly destroyed itself, ending up with only 4! employies, my last 4 years I had responsibility for the service dept. I was based at Shenstone in Staffs on Rotaries only.
My only association with the IOM was purely as a visitor, from 1967-1989 incl going every year from 70-89. I first went on a factory Rotary to the island in 1985 on an air-cooled bike, which I bought from Norton in 86, and still own. I didn't have anything to do with the racing setup, but knew most of the people involved, including Brian Chrichton, with whom I'm still friendly. I worked with Barry Simmonds, one of the last race team managers, on the last Police Rotary prototype. He was resposible for the J Player race efforts and the fabulous 1992 Hislop Senior TT victory.
I met Alistair Cave long after his BSA days when he ran Hare Eng in B'ham. I used to have to inspect Rotors that they used to make for Norton in the 80's.
They were without doubt the best 18 years of my life, working with bikes. And imagine being PAID to ride!!, anywhere and everywhere.
Regards JohnW. 2002 TDI SE. 1981 & 1993 Rotary Nortons.

JohnW: fascinating line of work you got into! Now, how about a Norton-rotary engined A2? That should give a few surprises.[}:)]

Norton ES2, funny you should say that, but about 1984 Norton did put a Rotary engine in a Metro!. God only knows why, because BL were'nt interested in it. Apparently it went like a rocket, but the fuel consumtion was so poor, Norton whipped the engine out, refitted the original motor and got rid of it. Norton were expert at wasting time and money on silly projects, oh dear I could go on!!.
Regards JohnW. 2002 TDI SE.( Have you got yours yet?)
