I am afraid it is not quite that simple.

The keys you have bought will have an immobiliser chip in it that matches to car it came from.
You will need to have the chip removed and replaced with a new one.
Then you need to get the chip matched, but to achieve this with VCDS you will need to firstly get hold of the login code for your instrument cluster.
That takes a different cable (K-CAN) that reads the cluster and shows the login code (PIN).
Once you have the login code, someone with VCDS can program the immobiliser chips (if you have bought some new ones (one for each new key))

Failing that you need to take all of you keys to an Audi dealer or other Audi Specialist and pay for them to do it.

The keys are from a Audi A6, the keys look exactly the same as the one for my a2, the lady who sold them said they where replaced buy a locksmith and come with new blades and a code on a plastic tag to match them to the car, dunno if that helps

Unfortunately that is not correct.

There re is no key code that will help. They still need to be matched to the car as I indicated above.

Edited I didn't realise that these were from an early A6, and as you say the same shape so I removed my comments about the Part number etc.
But they still need to be matched as I said above.

So, not a straight forward job unless you can find someone who can get your login code.

I am too far away unfortunately, but if you are ever in the Heathrow area I would sort this out for you (for the price of a mug of coffee).

Sorry

Hi,

I have swapped from a 'Q' to an 'AF' CCCU recently which involves swapping to different keys, and so may be of some use to this thread.

Following on from what Steve has said, I'm unsure as to if the remote half of the keys you have purchased will be compatible. As you have a MY2004 car, you will most likely have an AF CCCU, which as standard is paired with remotes with a part number of 8Z0 837 231 D. The 'D'' revision is important. This part number is listed as only being partnered with the A2 and B6 platform A4s. It should be noted that although the keys look the same externally, they may not necessarily be compatible internally.

For an A6 remote of similar age, the part number is 4D0 837 231 with possible revisions of Q, L, N, K, E, P or M. If you could let us know which part number item you have purchased, and your CCCU revision, we may be able to advise if your items are compatible, a bit better? The CCCU is located inside the passenger footwell, and the letters after the part number are what's needed.

Hope this helps. :)

Regards,

Matt.
