Anyone use wheel spacers on their A2?

Howdy Ay 2

Just wondering whether it is a good idea to fit wheel spacers to my A2 in order to widen the track a little.

Where we live they have fitted literally hundreds of speed humps that are spaced out across the carriageway. Many of them are too high and have steep inclines.

My Transporter T4 straddles the humps but the A2 doesn't. I always drive slowly over the humps and have been overtaken a few times which defeats the objective of the speed humps really.

Increasing the width of the track might help to avoid the main body of the humps but could it cause excess wear to the A2?

Currently running on 16" wheels with 185/50/16 tyres and there does seem to be room for the wheels and tyres to move towards the edge of the wheel arches without protruding which I know would be illegal..

Thank You

I have 12mm spacers on mine, with Audi A1 SE 15" wheels to help them fill out the arches a little better.

I doubt that this will help you, you can't fit spacers that are any significant size.
So even if you widened the tack by 20mm a side that is under two inches in total.
Even if that was wide enough to straddle the hump (which I doubt it is) you would have to hit the bump dead on to stand a chance of missing it.

Personally i wouldn't bother. It can put a slightly extra strain on your wheel bearings too.

So I would leave them as they are.

Archives only show up this for the 16" wheels.

i remember a member mentioning 15mm spacers but i'm sure we were discussing 15" pepperpots at the time.

I had 15" Pepperpots with 15mm spacers on and had no issues whatsoever. The Pepperpots sat 2.5mm further out than the original 17" Sport wheels from the arch.

Obviously the Sport wheels are 7" wide and the Pepperpots 6" wide and both sets of wheels have the same offset of 38mm.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Doesn't see like there would be much of an advantage in fitting wheel spacers then.

Maybe if you want to make the wheels "fill the arches" then they can work, or if you have the wrong ET on your wheels, they can bring them back to the right position in the wheel arch.
