AUB engine

Found out today the AUB engine would fit an A2, that's made up my mind once my engine goes that is what I would have replacing it, 1.4 petrol with 100bhp :) found one online with 26k on the clock for £550. Has anyone done an engine swap / conversion?

I think it's been done recently Paul. I think it was Boris67. Try doing a search.

P's, why wait until your engine goes :)

Thanks, I'll have a look. Trust me I would love to do the swap now but can't justify it because my engine is running so sweet at the moment.

all the extra power is at the top end. It was discussed a while back on the German forum and thrown out for too little improvements for too big money.

AVY is probably the better deal.

Hi guys,

Yes I did it and it works fine with the AUA ECU, but I'm not sure about the increased power as it needs different fuel mapping and if I'm not mistaking, ignition timing. Waiting to be corrected.

I got an ECU from Polo AUB, fitted it, but it wouldn't start. After checking and clearing the error code, same thing happens,
It fires briefly, then shuts down giving a code for faulty injection system.

I'm thinking, there must be a brand/manufacturer code or something, that's messing up things. With Volkswagen ECU in Audi, it gives error, but with Audi ECU in Audi it works but with AUA map. Also it could be a faulty ECU, I have no way of checking it.

Cheers!

When replacing the engine ECU there is an 'adaption' procedure required so the immobiliser communicates with the new unit.

Hi Spike,

I knew someone will have the visdom. Can you help me with adaption, do I need a hex can or similar to do this?

I'm thinking of getting the VCDS mobile from Ross tech.

Thanks,

Boris

I am in the middle of doing this conversion too. AUA to AUB engine. I AM using a Fabia AUB 100bhp Engine and gearbox. along with the engine I am fitting an uprated Filter and 4 branch manifold and removing the CAT. Car should be a Good 110bhp after.

At last i have finally got around to doing this conversion from AUA 75BHP engine to AUB 100bhp engine. it took me 2 days and I can report that it works very well.

A great result and worthy of a more detailed report when you have the time.

Cheers Spike

Where should i start.

The donor Engine and gearbox was from a 51 plate Skoda Fabia Estate. This is by far the best to use.

This gearbox has the starter motor in the same place as the A2 box.

All sensors are the Same, So you can just swop them complete.

You need to use the Audi A2 Engine and gearbox mounts, but the cambelt covers are the same.

the Car is running on the standard AUA ECU at the moment

Right have at last got the pin codes on the AUB ECU changed to match the A2, I have swapped over the injectors to from the standard AUA units to the AUB units.
Car running perfect on it and the car Rev limiter has gone from 5800RPM to 6500RPM.

After running the complete AUB engine in my A2 for over 15K, I can say i have loved it. with the induction kit , 6n2 exhaust manifold adjustable FPR, car made 111bhp on the Rollers.

Have sorted out the new engine now for the car. going to be fitting an BCB 1.6 bottom end with AUB head. Should be good for 130BHP

New update . Fitted BCB 1.6 engine with rocker cover, cams and sump from 1.4 AUB.
I used the 1.4 flywheel and clutch too.

With all the inlet and TB and exhaust manifold from polo gti.

All running on a standard AUB Skoda fsbia ECU.

Pulls like a train now .

Have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator which I will be fitting soon and getting the car set up .

Will keep you all informed .
