I have tutorial how change 1/2 DIS (or FIS) to full DIS (or FIS). Step by step, many pictures.
But this tutorial is in Polish.

Oh, I forgot. In polish allegro (something like ebay) we have many cars for parts. Most of this cars are from England ;-)

Just for clarity, Tom's DIS service is supply and fit and he stocks the DIS clusters., DIS wiper stalk and looms.

I am not trying to get customers for Tom,it is just that this does mean that when searching for your ideal A2, if everything is perfect apart from there being no DIS, you can buy it and have a retrofit. So no need to miss out on your "holy grail". Check with Tom for prices.

I just wish he had been providing this service when I was searching for my holy grail. I turned down some great cars just because they had no DIS.

Its good to know the details of this, so those who are good at DIY can attempt it themselves.

I like to do as much as possible to my A2, so that i can learn how to repair things in the future.

Tom does of course provide a professional service for those that dont have the time etc.

Tony at A2 Cars did my DIS swap/upgrade, along with arranging for the re-code for the immobiliser/keys, and also for mileage correction to ensure that the new cluster's mileage matched that of the actual car.
As part of the upgrade, we also fitted the extra large washer bottle with bottle level monitoring. I believe Tony also now has retrofitted the bulb-monitoring facility for DIS too.

Yes, we did carry out the DIS upgrade on your car and quite a few others since then in fact.
Some more established members may recall that we are the pioneers of DIS upgrades in the UK with my TDi being the first! In fact, humpy has had the "full-fat" ultimate DIS upgrade - bulb monitoring included .

Yes,

It is great that there are a couple of options available if you want a DIS upgrade.

When I was searching for the car to use for the project, I would have loved to have two options to choose from.
I didn't have either option available to me and couldn't even find a DIS cluster to do the upgrade myself.

So I am jealous of anyone now wanting this upgrade and having two reliable installers to choose from.

I drive to Poland 1-2 a year for a car that is being restored there. Where in Polande are you? Can you help me with DIS in TDI90 if I come to you??

I have never seen a UK spec A2 with that info on it, but I have not seen a 1.2 tdi in action, so that may be the reason?

Paging RAB / other 1.2 owners !!!

If this can be done (and not only on a 1.2) then you would make a lot of people happy!!!
But I expect even if it was possible it would be for non UK cluster? But who knows?

No this is not a 1.2 DIS which is the same as any other DIS except that it is not optional on a 1.2!
