Audi A2 revisited.

Hi All
Took the plunge and purchased the Merlot red pearl Audi A2 tdi sport DE03 UPG that I mentioned in my other post. Car is in good condition for it's age but does need a damn good service.
It has the usual button wear to the climate control panel, and annoyingly has button damage to the Concert Cd player with 1 button missing? (the adjuster knob on the right of unit). On way home from hull (a 240 mile trip) Car performed well and averaged 55 mpg. I did take my time and never took the car above 70 mph and only light acceleration(conscious of no history on timing belt change). Noticed 3 other issues that I would like to get sorted. One of them will be covered by the service, I am going to ask the garage to change out the thermostat (car temperature didn't get above 70 degrees). The second I think should be covered by an EGR clean (car seems lazy to rev) Pretty sure I had that on my old A2 and an EGR clean cured it. The third issue raised it's head after 30 minutes driving the DIS display started to fade at the top. Apart from that I am very happy with my purchase. Will post up some piccies when I've cleaned up the car.
Good to be back

That car is a fantastic colour - I think it looks great!

Mines running cool as well I think, but then the last two old Audis I've bought have shown the same symptoms. Our 1994 2.6 Cabriolet needed a thermostat when I bought it 3 years ago, as did the 1996 A8 4.2 Quattro I bought two years ago... I sold the A8 after it passed its second MOT in my hands...wasn't brave enough to keep it longer ☺️

This aluminium behemoth cost less than the A2 I bought two weeks ago!!

A great looking car !. I watched "Car SOS" with interest this week - they were restoring an all alluminium bodied 1974 Ace Aceca. I,d never heard of this car but its British made with a classic Italian looking front and an Aston Martin DB4 ish rear end.

When up on the ramps Fuzz pointed out that the alluminium had started to crumble into a white dust powder around it,s tubular chassis frame. We may have a long wait before our cars have any of these issues. :)

Thanks for the kind messages.
I will try and post up some pictures when I have some spare time. Work and trying to get my other car ready for sale have been hectic!

Here's some picccies

Couldn't resist fitted my new Genuine rear muddies. Removed the egr valve(pig of a job) cleaned then refitted. Also fitted a replacement cupholder into centre vent. Car is booked into my local Vw/Audi specialist (tuesday 26th) for a full service including belts and thermostat replacement then I'll be on the road!
My Wishlist so far need a Button for Audi Concert stereo a replacement alarm deactivation button and maybe have my drivers' bolster foam replaced by a upholsterer.

Stunning Steve; a beautiful colour which sits graciously on 17" rims.

Top find. Pleased to read that you are happy with your purchase.

That colour really looks fantastic...and the cloth interior is in stunning condition too!! Looks great

Thanks all for the kind messages. I have resisted the urge to wash and polish it, as it really needs a good going over with some autoglym paint renovator. the paintwork is good but it has some light scratch marks in laquer. Can't wait to use it after the service has been done. Top find on stoke audi parts will order it in.
