Audi Concert Stuck on ‘ PHONE’ Help please

Hi all, I have a 2002 1.4 Petrol A2, and it came with an ancient Nokia phone holder/ charger. ( I’ve included one pic of it when it was still attached).

It was awkwardly angled and was getting in the way of passengers knees/ hitting knees which was never fun.

I finally got around to removing the metal holder from behind the Audi Concert, and snipped off the wires.

Unfortunately, my Audi Concert now just says ‘ PHONE’ constantly. Whatever I press, it just stays there. It only changes to show ‘ Phone Menu Left/ Right’ when I click on menu.

I have read through other forum threads and have tried pressing and holding RDS & Scan- nothing changes.

If anyone knows how to get my radio working again, I’d be most grateful. I did take a look behind the unit and don’t see any wires that would obviously be the cause.

Im not too good with these electronic stuff, but I’d be happy to follow a step by step. I’m guessing it’s just trying to ‘ receive’ from the phone I’ve snipped off. So I just need to get rid of the receiver bit?

Pictures included to help! Thank you all! 😭🙏🏼

For some reason, permanent 12V is being fed to the vertical red connector on the back of the stereo.
This shouldn’t be happening, but it is. Pull the vertical red connector out from the back of the stereo, and you should find that everything works perfectly …except the hands-free system.

Cheers,

Tom

Yes.

On the back of the Concert II stereos, there are four connectors in a group; three connectors are orientated horizontally and one is orientated vertically. It is the vertical one that needs to be disconnected.

Cheers,

Tom
Thanks Tom!

If by any chance you have a picture of the rear and which to pull out that would be swell.

I’ll hop into the car later and take a look. Thank you!

Ok managed to find a photo online. Looks like only that one I had the arrow pointed to is oriented vertically.

Hopefully this works! 🙏🏼
