Audi Concert

You have to be careful about this, some of the 2001 cars didn't have the correct "canbus" that the later cars had.

Hopefully someone will come along and correct me, but I think it is something that you would need to check before buying.

You can buy a little gadget for around £18 that fools a later radio into thinking it’s plugged into a canbus car. It enables the radio to function correctly. I had one in my 2000 Pine Green SE 1.4 petrol.

Getting CAN-Bus from the instrument cluster to the radio takes two wires, four connectors (of the correct size), a green mini-iso plug and someone with access to VCDS to enable the radio. Easy/peasy. No need for emulators.

Totally understand and I agree with the Sony being offered at £50 then £20/£30 for wiring etc it sounds more effort than it's worth. Have you fitted an XCarLink before? Do you know if it is relatively straightforward? This might be my new route to go down

Rear speakers are fitted so you guy's are doing well to persuade me to keep the Concert and go down the XCarLink route as I mentioned I'm not fussed for Bluetooth, NFC and all that jazz all I want is an AUX port so this is beginning to sound like the easiest option, it had crossed my mind to go double din as well but decided against that also

How about one of these? MP3\USB\AUX and you get to keep using your existing concert I use a tape cassette CD adaptor in my Symphony 2 for phone Aux input there are a few options available from cumcartec

Hope this helps.

No, that’s a line in adaptor that won’t work in an A2.
When I get chance I’ll see if I can find a link to the emulator I had.

Yes it will and does work on an A2 it plugs into the CD changer port and has a chip on the cable to fool the stereo into thinking it is a cd changer ?

Hi folks,

Thanks for all the replies I've decided to go with the XCarLink. I just needed to know what stereo keys I would need to remove the concert.. I've punched it into eBay and it comes up with 3 different shapes might all do the same thing so this is a silly question but thought I would ask.

Thanks again

Those are the ones i've used on mine before.

To release the keys from the unit press in the tabs on the side of the stereo. I didn't know this at first and really mangled them till i could yank them out!

I've added Bluetooth to my Concert using a Connects2 and a bluetooth dongle which I've installed in the driver's cup holder.
With that, I can change tracks, answer and end calls and it also has a microphone built in. Total cost £38.78 and it works perfectly.

Barge power do you have a link to this kit at all? Same as the threads originator all of my music is on iPods or my phone so would like six or Bluetooth

Thanks

Morning folks,

Looking for some more info if possible.. I'm looking into changing the Concert I currently have installed in my car to something after market more than likely a Sony (mex-n5100bt) but wondered if there is anything I should know before doing so?

Thanks for any help

I went this route earlier and I have already changed my mind. Had a Sony head unit without CD player installed at Halfords. It did have Bluetooth, Aux in and USB but I miss the quality of the Concert unit already and although I had a old Connects 2 box plugged into the CD changer socket to a even older iPod with this Concert I thought I wanted Bluetooth streaming. I should have looked at the newer versions of Connects 2! I will be checking them out now:eek::)
