Audi insurance

Morning.

For many years on different car Ive used Adrian Flux, they have always been very competitive and had no problems at all...

Until the renewal last year for my Ebony Black BBY, the renewal quote almost doubled, so I called them up to see why and they offered a 10% discount. Short story I walked away from them.

I am now with the AA and their prices were what I was expecting from the Adrian Flux renewal quote.

Regardless what responses you get, vehicle insurance is mostly specific to what you needs are and unfortunately what postcode the car resides at.

Please use comparison websites, once you’ve found the best quote, go direct to the insurers website and purchase direct.

Kind regards,

Tom

I make sure it covers:

Uninsured drivers
Protected no claims
Legal
Drive other cars on 3rd party (check!)
Driving abroad (on the big car)

sometimes by the time you add these things it’s no where near the comparison site price.
The value of the car figure bothers me the most, 700 quid?? That’s just a set of decent tyres ?

I always find the comparison sites quote for the basic cover then you have to add on everything you NEED. Insurance is a very personal thing, some will not use certain companies regardless of what they quote ( I know there are 2 companies I will never use ), the number and ages of the drivers, location, modifications, included breakdown cover, foreign travel etc. I also believe there are some companies out there that really do not want to insure A2s due to high or specialist repairs costs, parts availability or ignorance...

What about declaring remaps and other mods however - has anyone found insurance companies don't want to cover this, or do they simply adjust the premium once declared?

Can not vouch for what those mods cost but the way insurance companies are now, if you have anything fitted to a car that is not OEM fit then they may make it difficult when it comes to claiming. I personally know of an owner who had someone bump them in a car park and the insurance refused to pay out because she had tinted her windows - I did tell her not to.

I’ve had decent experience with Adrian flux because my car is modified. TT wheels and Tyres, leather seats, Votex, A2OC badges and ECU remap.

It’s been cheaper the last 3 years than competitors and they do agreed value cover for a small premium.

It’s not cheap but I had been doing 15,000 miles and live in the East end of Glasgow.

We’ll see how it goes this year in about a week.

I've been with Adrian Flux for many years because my A2 has a remap and longer 5th gear. A few years back they really hiked the premium so I rang up and asked why. I was kept on hold why they contacted the insurer (Equity Red Star) and came back with a revised figure less that the previous years figure. So it can pay to challenge.

As for valuations, I pay (from memory) c£40 extra for agree value, but here again, over the years they reduced it from £4k to £3.5k and now £3k. What is irritating is that the agreed value is always confirmed after I renew - it's never on the renewal - nothing "agreed" to my mind! [I guess it is because when you renew you have to send 7 or so photos]. I did challenge it this year with lots of examples of good A2s for sale but they didn't budge.

With now much reduced mileage I'm thinking of removing the remap and longer 5th gear so I can shop around. Having mods does limit ones choice and that is bound to influence premiums.

A lot of mainstream insurers are pathetic on 'mods'
My discussion a few years ago. "The car is 20 years old, of course it has had a replacement exhaust and it is stainless steel as that doesn't rust."

Must say when I explained my engine swap in my fsi the insurance with the same mileage ended up cheaper than my 1.4mpi

My insurance premium didn’t change with Adrian flux but other insurers refused to touch me.

A few years ago an insurer refused my cover mid-year because of an ‘engine replacement’. The lady explained that they had a policy due to the increased risks and power of an engine transplant. She was completely deaf to my protests that it was a 0.7l engine taken from another 0.7l Smart car and overpowered driving wasn’t exactly an issue. It was a repair not an attempt at the land speed record. They cancelled the insurance and kept the remaining premium. I won’t go back there...
