Battery renewal

I did a battery replacement on my last A2 a few years ago with this Varta F18 110 and was very pleased with it.
On shopping for a new battery for my present A2 I found this Tayna site on Ebay.

However on checking compatability it tells me that this battery is not compatible with the A2,does anyone know why this may be?
thanks
Ian

You should get a battery that is 190mm in height rather than 175mm. The Varta F19 battery is the closest replacement to most original A2 batteries in terms of size. Varta now recommend switching to the E44, with the same 190mm height but a slightly shorter length at 278mm. Tayna have that battery listed here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Varta-E4...AH-096-5-Year-Warranty-577400078/272917684700
Much as I love to save money, I prefer a higher capacity battery. Why is the taller (lower capacity) battery better?

Here (as I mentioned) is the higher capacity battery at 190mm tall: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/F19-Varta-Silver-Dynamic-Car-Battery-85Ah/273650005023

My 2001 OEM Varta battery was 190mm tall. I'm not sufficiently au fait with battery technology to explain why battery height is an important element in long term performance, but hopefully someone with that sort of expertise will be along before too long.

I took Varta's advice and dropped down to the E44 when I replaced my OEM battery after 17 years. Time will tell whether or not the slight loss of capacity will impact performance.

Hi Ijedgar, I replaced my original battery with the Varta F18 (direct from Tayna) as in your link and it has been fine for the last couple of years with no issues.

I bought the F18 110 and fitted it today, got it for a good price (£88.15) delivered from Tayna on Ebay.
Had to undo the three torx screws and remove the rear valance to get the tool container out as the rear lip was wedged beneath it.
Otherwise all good and only had to resync the keys and reset the clock.
