So, I finally got to buy my dream car! Well, the A2 is sort of a dream car, but this one has got something special about it.
It's a 1974 VW Bay window camper van with a high roof. This is going to be pretty much a long term project. But in the end, I'll end up with a really nice camper van, that probably will have climbed a price, compared to what I payed for it minus the cost of repairs. For those of you not familiar with the predecessor, the T1 Split window van, they have climbed A LOT in price the past years. Nowadays they are a bit rare and one in the same state as mine would probably cost about 15 000 euros.
There isn't really a plan for it, except making it nice and the way I like it. The interior right now is pretty ratty, but seems to work. The exterior looks really dull, but most of it has already been rust repaired. It will need a paint job in the future. A bucket of the original Sumatra Green paint was included in the price, but not delivered yet.
To start off, here's some pictures.
One happy owner!
She's pretty rust free underneath.
The green color is most probably the original Sumatra Green.
If you have questions or suggestions, please post them here!
Why am I posting this here, on the A2 forum? Well, I, like the most of you guys, really enjoy the forum! I want to share my experience restoring her. I want to have some guys encouraging me if things get tough. I want to post about her at a friendly forum that's isn't stuffed with besserwissers who just want's me to build my car to their preference of taste. But please don't refrain on posting your taste. I know you guys aren't like most forum members. This is actually the first forum post I have done about Belinda. I'll most probably also post a lot over at Boxerville, the Swedish air cooled VW forum.
And last but not least, a short video.
