Noting the amount of 17inch rims that get kerbed, what are the options. Well I have noted that some tyres have two types of rim protector - one which is invisible when fitted as sits on the edge of the rim lip eg like a Continental - the other which sits at the widest point of the tyre - I saw a Bridgestone Potenza like this one.

What have people found?

Another mthod I have noted is to go for a 215/45 tyre. Why? Well as the 205/40 sits narrower than the rim, I'd guess this one sits wider. Anyone tried this? I noted one board member said he had them.

Have a look at the Avon ZZ range, I had a set before and I wished I had discovered them earlier. They have one of the widest rim protectors that I have seen yet. Mine had a good 15mm of protrusion beyond the rim and it seemed like the kerbs were shy to come into contact with them.
