Big front grill

Came across this on the German forum. It certainly makes the car look more modern.

Looking on Ebay you can pick up an A3 grill for under £100 and then give it to a good body shop to fabricate and getting fitting correctly, paint and bingo, a "new" A2. Just an idea.

What do you guys reckon?

Ergh!...maybe if the top of the new grill lined up with the top of the flap then it might actually look good, but like this it's just messy.

I can see enough to think that style of front end could have worked had Audi designed the car along those lines.
The aftermarket facelift doesn't work but gives an idea of what could have been.

Personally I think the idea is right, it just needs a bit more time in the bodyshop to get everything flowing as it should.

Ditto all the other comments really. I think if Audi had continued producing the A2 and facelifted it like they did the rest of the range around 2004 then it would have looked great and far more modern/current with the big grille and more modern steering wheel. I really love the later look Audi's but think the A2 is still looking pretty good for it's years without the above appalling cosmetic surgery!

Just a thought, where are all of the 3 door 'coupe's' and slitty eyed A2's that appear on various picture sites. I know that the fab looking pickup is in the museum but what about the other oddballs. Colin. Ps like other comments this one needs more work. Maybe if the top of the grill was higher with a split opening panel it would look good.

LOL! Very funny indeed! Agree with the majority - this looks awful so low down on the front of the car. If it had symmetry as per Ethan's adjustments it'd be really cool, but I can't picture how this would work in practical terms with the design of the bonnet.
