Blinking roof

When I bought the car the roof sort of worked but had issues with closing on one side and the motor could be heard slipping cogs

I've just installed a brand new motor and the slippage has gone

But, now the roof refuses to open
I've not opened it for about a year and the motor moves the cables a little to raise the back of the front window about 5mm then stops

I've tried assisting it but unsure of which way to push up or back, or up and back

Also is there any lubrication I should try before commencing this??

Any help is appreciated

Jason,

Why not use the manual handle to open the roof initially so that you don't put any strain on the new motor? By using the handle you get a feel for the mechanism to see where it's sticking.

I'm interested to know how you changed the motor as although my OSS is working fine now, there may come a time when it's not:eek:

Did you buy the motor separate from the cable mechanism or is it a complete assembly, also do you know if the motor is the later version with the metal gears, if so what's the part number?

Agree with Steve - try using the manual opening and see if it still moves ok first.

On other matters, how's the gearbox?

Tried a hex bit in a Ratchet and it started to slip at the point of resistance

Any other suggestions?
Lubrication of a closed roof window?
