Bonnet Across Britain - the Journey

Hi All,

Just thought I would let you all know that I need the back seats of my car back by 17th March 2017 Am happy to travel and meet up on any of the following dates to exchange but do have to exchange on one of the dates as I don't have room in my little cluttered house with no dining room.

17th, 18th or 19th of February
26th of February
4th of March
11th of March or 12th of March

Also am going up to Bakewell (Weather permitting) this Sunday to get my Bakewell Pudding fix so could drop off to anyone around that area on the way back to Long Eaton.

Have a good weekend
Aimee

Hi all,

Lovely drive out to Bakewell yesterday. Got a look at some real snow. We just don't get that stuff much where I live. Sadly because of the weather I was unable to get the bonnet on to take a picture because the rain and snow just didn't let up.

Still no messages in my inbox r.e. the exchange of the bonnet. With only 8 months left on this little venture I am sure that everyone wants to get as many signatures on the bonnet and as much money donated as possible.

Cheers
Aimee

Hi Aimee,

I'm not that far from you in Coalville. It wouldn't be much of a journey for the bonnet but I can easily pass it onto someone in Lincolnshire as I commute there daily. I am also travelling down to Salisbury, Wiltshire at the end of April for a wedding so could take it back South.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Tom,

Yep, you are not far from us at all. Would be happy to drop it off at weekend. Private message me your address and a time that is convenient to you as I am free all weekend including all day Friday.

Cheers

Hi Aimee,

Looks like Ill be the next keeper of the bonnet. PM to follow once I find the next keeper.

So......are there any takers for the bonnet in the Lincoln or Leicester area, I can deliver after 16:30 (18:00 for Leicester) when I leave work. I know it will be a short journey but the miles will soon add up to keep everyone guessing.

Kind regards,

Tom

I have added a few miles on by taking it to work with me everyday. :D

Hi all, Me again. Just a couple of facts to help put into perspective how important the Air Ambulance is.

My work colleague who is a long term supporter of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance part of the Air ambulance said that since the year 2000 the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, who has 2 helicopters for one of the biggest counties in UK, have been involved in the rescue of over 7000 patients. Did you know that to keep just 1 helicopter flying the Air Ambulance needs to raise £6000 per day. This is why donations and moving the bonnet around Britain is so important. I am glad to be doing my part.

Hi All,

I'm all set to receive the Bonnet and just need to know who would be next up to receive it. I'll keep it for a couple of weeks to add some milage to it whilst commuting so looking for someone in the Leicester or Lincoln area at the end of this month.

Please let me know soonest so I can collect it from Aimee.

Aimee due to buildings works at home which will be a storage nightmare as my garage roof is also coming off I'm unable to collect it until I have a confirmed new recipient before 1st of March.

Lets get this Bonnet on the move!

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Tom,

Am happy to keep driving it around until your garage is sorted as I don't need my back seats until my mum comes over on the 17th of March (Driving Miss Daisy). Also now have availability on 5th as well as 4th of March as the Sunday race is off. Thinking about taking it to the seaside if the weather is nice this weekend ;)

Cheers
Aimee

Does your Lincoln-Leicester journey go via the A1?
I make a twice a week journey from Oxford area to south Lincs, so if you were to pass by Grantham on a friday afternoon we could meet up and do a bonnet handover in a shady corner of a carpark somewhere?

First post, I'm Daniel, I have two A2's a 1.4 petrol and a diesel.

Daniel,

Firstly welcome to this amazing Forum and thank you volunteering to take the Bonnet on further travels.

I'm an A46 commuter and try to avoid the A1 on a Friday, but for such a good cause I'd be happy to meet up to swap Bonnets.

Aimee it looks like we can swap soon. Maybe next week some point (or this weekend) and I'll hand it over to Daniel after 2 weeks of ownership and commuting.

Kind regards,

Tom

Awesome am happy to do Friday Saturday or Sunday this week or, failing this weekend, I can do Saturday or Sunday next week (preferably afternoon but we can work around that). PM me your address and date and time and I will put it in the diary. Looking forward to meeting you and Thank you and welcome Daniel

HI all,

Quick update. The bonnet had a lovely trip around Nottinghamshire last night as I clocked up a fair bit of mileage trying to get home while the M1 was down to one lane and hardly moving. Hope you are all getting your guesses in with YorkshireHill. Nearly done my time with it as meeting up with Tom this weekend to exchange. Fingers Crossed I have beaten Teresa on mileage done. ;)

Hi All,

The bonnet is now safe in Coalville where it will join me on my travels for about a month. I'll be looking to hand it over to Daniel before the end of March.

Nice to meet Aimee, Lee and their very nice Colour Storm.

Kind regards,

Tom

Thanks for taking part Tom - a photo will be great when you get a chance on your travels

Hopefully the bag is still travelling with the bonnet - are the pens still OK? there is also extra gaffa tape for patching up the bonvelope if necessary!

Hi Hilary,

No problems at all and I'll get the bonnet fitted this weekend for a picture if the weather holds out. Ive already taken a shot of my clocks to prove my start mileage on Monday and will get that to you later once I've compressed it to work on the Forum. There are 24 air fresheners and 34 Audi pens remaining. I'll get back to you about the paint pens once I've signed the bonnet.

Donation will be pledged later this evening.

Kind regards,

Tom

How are the plans going for the next stage of the Bonnet tour?

Will it be going to Rover (Daniel) for a drop off in either Oxford or Lincoln?

Let me know if you're stuck so I can help co-ordinate and we'll keep it on the move
