Boot Release Button

Hi there,

Would anyone out there in the "A2OC" community know where I can buy a release button for the boot of my 2004 A2?

One of the plastic clips that holds the button in place has broken and ends up falling out regularly.

I think there is a fault on it anyway as it takes a few attempts to release anyway.

Thanks for taking time to read this and I look forward to and appreciate any help and advice you can offer.

Cheers.

I think Darren C bought a new one last week from Crewe Audi for around £40 posted. Not sure if it was the last one though. 🤔

Good Evening,

Exactly the same happened to my boot finger please release, dangling on wire, would push back in but fall out after a few days, Tom(Timmus) replaced mine yesterday!

The best policy would be to buy new, but they now appear to be no longer available, but there might be a few left in stock somewhere, try Crewe Audi on here.

It would appear you need part number 8Z0827863, a few on ebay for £40+, but I expect one of our recyclers will have one, try @A2Steve, @Clackers, @Ami for substantially less cost.

Be warned fitting a replacement is not a five job, information on here if you search (with Google best). I would be wary of letting a local garage fit one, the interior boot trim has to come off (like trying to get a bone off a hungry rottweiler), probably rusty screws as well and lastly the number place trim has to be removed and this is a fraught task. If you don't fancy this job yourself probably wise to engage A2 specialist help.

Hope this helps.

Andy

Just to update on this job...
If the brown plastic tong has snapped off, it it possible to remove the handle from a breaker and literally unplug the broken one, plug in the new one, then click it back into place...a 10sec job...but if you leave the handle in its holder and try and replace the whole holder, that is when it becomes the titanic job...this may save someone hours of unnecessary work 👍👍👍👍👍
