Brake pads tapered wear???

The leading and trailing edges of pads should have some chamfer to prevent the edges chipping and cracking as the pads bed in. How much chamfer will probably vary between the different manufacturers. If the whole front or rear edge of the pad is chamfered then that is a problem.

More clear pictures of your pads and discs with indicators to show the extent would as Catnip64 has stated would help us more understand.

With the wheel off, so that there's no perspective in the pic.
Mac.

It's an ATE front brake system on the Audi A2.

According to these photos, the ATE 13.0460-7117.2 front brake pads that fit the Audi A2 aren't chamfered.

Sometimes brake pad photos can be generic, but these ones show the code 607117 marked on the back of the brake pads, so are the actual Audi A2 brake pads and not generic.

Apologies, realised I never came back to this!
I had the brakes checked by the workshop I use and they basically said they're fine - looks like someone has chamfered the edge, maybe to stop them being noisy.
Pad warning light was a broken cable which had been taped up previously, apparently!!!
