Break Fluid Change

Hi,

I was reading the owner's manual the other day, and I only just spotted that it states that brake fluid should be changed every 2 years. Now, it's 2 years and 2 months since I bought the car - and hence it's booked in to be done next week.

Is this oversight likely to invalidate the warranty? My variable servicing is all on track as per service shedule.

Should not affect warranty for 2 months.

Get it done though - Brake fluid is Hydrocopic (absorbs water) and as the water content increases it becomes less effective until it reaches the point where the water in it boils and the brakes stop working!

1.4 Petrol Special Edition, Ebony Black, grey leather, heated seats, climate, opensky, five spoke alloys for SWMBO (Replaced a 2002 1.4 Petrol SE) Honda Accord Tourer 2.2 iCDTi for me.

For future reference, the max time between services is 2 years, regardless of what the variable service indicator says.
I agree with the comments above regarding brake performance and warranty. In addition, the absorbed water can also cause internal corrosion of the braking system with the ABS components being particularly vunerable.

Thanks for the feedback. Had brake fluid changed today. £80. Not cheap - but was in for some unrelated warranty checks anyway.

FYI - it had it's first variable service in May 2004 - and next variable service should be upon me in 2 months or so.
